Fathom Events...showing classic movies on the big screen...
Fathom Events is an entertainment company specializing in -- among other things -- showing classic movies in today's theatres. Every month they showcase a different film, and show it on specific Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings at selected theatres.
A couple of months ago, I saw To Kill a Mockingbird. And on March 8, I'm going to see Casablanca...can't wait for that!
If Turner Classic Movies is one of your favorite channels, and you don't watch the Oscars because most of the actors you like are dead, Fathom Events is a site you might want to subscribe to...

I went and saw a excellent documentary on the movie Galaxy Quest through those guys. If they have daytime showings I may have to use one of my two weekly days with a caretaker for Mom to catch a good old movie on my off time.

I agree...and it's not just the actors. Black-and-white movies were an art form, where lighting and shadows contributed greatly to the story. And there were no gee-whiz computerized special effects back then...background scenery had to be created, or films shot on location.
No, they sure don't make 'em like they used to!

I watch a new movie in the theater about once a week, but I also like to catch the Fathom Event series as well.
The best was Lawrence of Arabia which really is an experience on a big screen.
Die Hard, My Fair Lady, Wrath of Khan, and Grease were all fun to watch in the theater.
We just watched a stage play of To Kill a Mockingbird. Richard “John Boy Walton” Thomas played Atticus and since Gregory Peck is a hard act to follow he put his own very enjoyable spin on the part. Mary Badham, who played Scout in the movie was in the play as Mrs Dubois, the old lady with the Confederate pistol in her lap.
Big fan of the Fathom Events. There are usually a surprising number of younger folks sprinkled amongst us geezers.
