Retiring from LE
My son finally hung it up from being a LE, in California, almost.
Darned if he did not go and put in for Deputy Sherriff, for a little nest egg, back up , if things work out.
He must like to buy a lot of eggs and lettuce for the table?
Just got off the phone and wished him luck.

For some it just gets in their blood and can't give it up. After I retired, I thought about teaching in the LE programs of the local Vocational School and community college. I even considered going over to the Sheriff's Office but finally decided 26+ years was enough and I got out of LE completely. I hoped to finally be able to take a few trips/vacations with my wife, who had put up with missed birthdays & holidays for all those years. She had other plans that didn't include me so my plans changed again.
Good luck to your son, these are challenging times for those in law enforcement or any public service job.

As we say down here, bless his heart! You couldn’t pay me enough to get back in it after I retired. I wish him well but it’s changed too much for me.

Congratulations to him and thank you and your son for your service. I would not want to be in LE today with all of the socio-political issues that have recently become so common.
If he is still looking to work some corporations hire ex-LE for their security functions. In the banking industry we had them working in our fraud units as investigators and running our internal security / disaster preparedness areas.

I've been retired for 10 years after 43 years service with three different departments. I have really enjoyed my retirement and don't miss it because I'm too worn out to keep doing it. A small farm and hanging with the grand kids keeps me going at 75. Thanks for his service and tell him to do what he feels like doing.
