Bart Skelton - RIP

Sorry to hear that.
A while back a friend of mine was jetting and they announced his name and gave him boarding preference.
She asked me if I knew who he was and I told her yes, he's Skeeter's Son.
What?

Such a good guy!

What a shame, RIP Bart. Jim Wilson's Facebook page has it was health related. I just saw Bart in January and he appeared ok with exception of a surgery on his nose. Had a bandage covering it and he did not elaborate on what he had removed. A very humble and nice guy.

Darn! I always wanted to meet his dad but missed the chance. Since then I have also wanted to meet Bart in person but have missed out there too. He was 62.

Bart was younger than me; we worked the inauguration of newly-elected Gov. Garrey Carruthers in January, 1987, at the El Dorado Hotel and Sweeney Center in Santa Fe. He was a young State Police Officer and all-around good guy then, and remained so through his career changes. He sure traveled some rocky roads in life, but 'cowboy-ed up' and met the bumps head-on. Last saw him in '01 in Deming, NM, and am sad to hear of a fairly young (62? 63?) man passing.

I was there for the party at the El Dorado. I did not know he was there. I was reading Skeeter Skelton's stuff at that time.

Repost - after Skeeter passed, a State Trooper drove up to my Buddy Steve's Gun Store here in Albuquerque.
He announce that he was selling Skeeter's Ammo , raising funds for Mrs. Skelton.
I go out with Steve and we see a bunch of Handgun Ammo.
Some partial and some full cases.
Steve buys some and I help him carry it in.
At that time I didn't know Skeeter had a State Policeman son.
I'm embarrassed to say I don't recall reading his name tag!
So I'm not sure if it was Bart or not.
But I do remember he talked about Mrs. Skelton in third person.
