Hacksaw Blades?
Finally used the last of the Snap-On "Blue Point" hacksaw blades I purchased off the truck probably 20 years ago.
So this question for the "tool guys":
I'd like to order some new blades (mostly 16 and 24 TPI).
Who do you recommend?

So would I, John except I'm retired now and the truck doesn't come to my house.

Believe it or not you can order online! I have no shame in simply approaching the trucks when I see them. Every driver has always been surprised but helpful.

Better be careful, Sweet!
Didn't the current BATFE recently issue a policy letter prohibiting the unlawful narrowing of a gun's barrel?

Lennox, and Milwaukee but I gotta tell you. Harbor Freight blades work just as well. This from a guy with a garage full of Snap On tools. My good friend owned 2 routes and now works for corporate.

I haven't used a hacksaw in about 35 years, since I got my first SAWZALL! I have had 5 different designs, and my favorite was a Port-a-cable Tiger Cub. The body's a little bigger than a Dremel Tool and is 12AMP powerful.
I found the Lennox blades to be the best for everything except demolition work. Diablo makes a wicked looking 8" Demo blade that works on everything except poured concrete!
Several companies make small handsaws that use Sawzall blades, so I gave away all my hacksaw frames.

I just buy Ace Hardware store brand, but I don't use a hacksaw often, so take that for what it's worth. Ace store brand is usually pretty decent. Definitely not top of the line, though.

Have 3 hacksaws and a dozen mystery blades, mystery is I don't know or remember where the blades came from. The band saw I use Harbor Freight
blades and one blade made two cuts on a 40mm AA barrel. Frank

Thanks to everyone who posted!
I'll probably go to Harbor Freight and pick up a handful of blades and give them an audition.
If I find them lacking, I'll hunt down some Lenox blades.
I don't know if you were joking, Ivan, but I have a couple of Sawzalls with a good variety of blades and yes, they will cut, but I sometimes prefer the precision and control of lighter hand operated tools on some jobs.
Thanks again!

Heaven forbid that anyone in this thread ever gets locked up. But it doesn't sound like anyone here would be locked-up long if they have a relative that can bake cakes!

Speaking of sawzalls. way back in the 1980s I lived on a fast short cut through road between two state routes. Heard a few funny noises at about 5am and promptly went back to sleep.
Got up later got ready for work and went out to put the outgoing mail in the box by the road. Sitting about 2' in was a small box. Turned out it was a jobbers box of a hundred Starrett 5'' bimetal wood&metal blades.
Told the wife and next door neighbor to keep a eye on the road and see if someone is looking for for a box. If they can identify the contents give them the box. Nothing after two weeks I put them in my tool box. Good blades and I have used quite a few of them.

Another "fell off the back of a truck" story from New York?
I'm shocked!
Shocked, I tell you!

Well, this thread caused an almost "Fell Off The Truck" acquisition for me,,
Discussing the saw, I remembered I had not ordered a blade for my 9X16" capacity Jet saw in some years.
The blades cut perfectly, until one day, the cut skews to one side,, DONE, the blade is done.
You do not get three cuts notice, the cut goes from perfect to trash.
Well, I searched Amazon, past blade have cost me $75 to $100 each.
(I have been buying the blades since 2001, never less than $75 per blade.)
On Thursday, two blades shown on Amazon for $32.97 each.
I was ready to order one, but, then I thought,, this was a GREAT price,, I better order two.
Yesterday, Friday, both blades arrived,, one day shipping on both.
One blade came from Petersburg VA,, the other came from Redman California.
The box for each blade was as big as a LARGE pizza box.
The blade is not heavy, but, it is hard to believe overnight shipping is not more than I paid for the blade that came from California,,
So, for $65,, I will not have to search for a blade for my saw for the next decade,,
For me,, that price was like the blades fell off a truck,,,

We run all food stuff's through an X-ray before they go to the occupants of our county jail. Never got a hacksaw blade, but got enough drugs to stock a decent sized drug store.

The first thought I had was "Who uses hacksaws these days?" The tool that got me away from hacksaws for good was a Porter-Cable port-a-band saw I bought more than 30 years ago. I now have a variety of tools for cutting metal, but for clean precise cuts it's still the go-to. At the end of the day it's basically just a power hacksaw.

I use hacksaws these days.
And many previous days, also.
I can not count the times a hacksaw blade in a small handle solved a problem in a tight area where no power tool could have gotten anywhere close.

Like and have a few new and used Lennox blades for reciprocating saws. Mostly corded saws, but finally wore out a 30 yr old Makita reciprocating saw and not really wanting to spend a lot of money for a new one. Have a few Harbor Freight's Bauer 20 volt tools and got their new small cordless 20 volt reciprocating saw for a specialty job needed at my off grid cabin and want to cut in a window AC unit and cabin has 6" steel studs and metal R- Panel siding. The Bauer saw uses standard Lennox blades, so gonna have some fun in the near future.
