Drug Tests

Blacksky, good idea - that would probably eliminate over half of them.

I'd settle for a rule that says if you show up for a house or senate session, you're out of there permanently.

I had to pee in a cup for college football too. If you gotta be drug tested to see if you can play I-AA football, you certainly should be required to do so to you know, govern the country.

Between my job and the National Guard I pee in a lotta cups every year.

Congress does not have to follow employment laws, OSHA, or any of the other regulations and laws that the rest of the country has to follow, so why would you expect them to follow the drug laws?
They propose, and vote on their rules, enforce their rules internally!

Why do you think we do not have term limits?

Kennedy would be gone and the way Polosi acts she would be history also. If she isn't on something now she must have blown out half her brain cells in the 60's.

It's about time we get some drug testing, the stuff I have been buying lately is poop. Next time before I buy drugs I want them tested to make sure they are the good stuff

If the information from another ongoing thread is true I can see shoe testing in the future. ;>)

Personally, I'd like to commend the FDA, as the stuff I'm on now is MUCH better than that $hit we were getting in the 70's.

Personally, I'm a little bit put off by drug testing. I've smoked weed ONE time in my nearly forty years on earth, didn't like it, and never did it again. But why random drug tests? I don't give a #$%^ what people do in their off time, as long as it doesn't affect their job performance. If you are going to drug test, why not alcohol test as well. Drug is a drug. I know alcohol is legal, but some of the repercussions of it's abuse is just as bad, if not worse than, drugs that are illegal. I've thought about this a lot, and really don't see any other way to do it fairly. Millions of practicing alcoholics hold jobs every day that require a certain degree of dexterity and safety on the job, while just as many pot smokers get screwed out of a job simply because they like a puff of weed every now and then. I call B.S. on most of this.

Here's an idea: make passing a drug test part of registering to vote. You don't pass? No vote.

Supposedly, we are serious about reducing drug use... I'd love to hear Obama trying to talk around this one.

Actually, jframe, when we take a random drug test (which happens every 2000 manhours) we also take an alcahol test. (A little hand held meter you blow in). I actually have been on breakdowns at the powerhouses where we would come in with 100 to 150 people, work 7 days a week 12 to 14 hours around the clock, and then at the end of the job before we would get our last check, have to catch up the total drug tests. They would take the total manhours, divide them by 2000, and generate that many tests. It could add an entire day.

We do the drug and alcohol test too. They are random, and we have found drivers who have test positive for either one, or both. They were then given a chance to clean up their act, most don't. They test positive again later. I guess if you're willing to risk your job for a little drugs or alchohol your probably a royal dumbass anyway and don't need to be driving a vehicle that weighs several tons.
