Some things I miss, and others I don't about the UK

Believe me guy's , there's nothing good about the UK. High taxes, fuel ,beer and just about everything else....
And even more restrictive (and probably equally ineffective) gun laws than we have in this former colony (aka Canada).

Not to mention the immigrants crossing the channel in there thousands...
Sort of "Auf Widersehen, Pet" in reverse, but on steroids  Sadly, those immigrants are coming from even worse conditions. It's a global problem, unfortunately :(

Our gas/petrol prices here are going up, too, but nothing like the UK... yet. About £1.10/litre locally, and £1.21 in Vancouver, BC (= $5.92 USG locally)

I suspect much of what ex-pats (and children of same) like about the UK is largely nostalgia, so quaintly upheld by mags like This England, and pics like this, from an old copy of Country Life :D

Used to travel annually to London for work. Loved the London cabs. Their ability to find odd addresses and get you places quickly despite the traffic seemed superhuman sometimes.
I still have an old London A-Z, which was hard enough to read even with relatively good eyesight. London addresses can be maddening. Who - aside from a cabbie - would know that "Nº 43a Bladdersnot Lane" is right across the road from Nº 261?
