Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said a team of detectives began an investigation March 11 into a series of a vehicular burglaries resulting in the theft of seven firearms over three nights in four neighborhoods: 13 burglaries on March 11 in Reflections West; 11 burglaries May 26 in Christina Oaks; and 14 burglaries May 28 in Highlands Crossing and Mission Hills.

"They would bypass valuables because they were looking for guns," Judd said. "They would actually leave valuables or credit cards they could be tracked with because they were after guns. They were incredibly organized."

The group targeted vehicles that had window or bumper stickers indicating the owner was Conservative, supported 2nd Amendment rights or may own guns, according to Judd.

Just keep in mind the clothes you wear also give people an indication that you are carrying "something significant".

I like LOTS of pockets and wear a vest that Mas Ayoob refers to as a "Shoot-Me-First" vest.

Quite sure a lot of us here do as well.

I can take the stickers off, but the M2 Browning mounted in the turret might give it away.:D:D:D:D

I'm a DuSHKA man myself; crew served weaponry without the crew. And MUCH cheaper everywhere in the world!

I tell people what I want them to know. Some of what I say may or may not be true.

In my youth, I used to be the "gun guy". To the folks who know me, but haven't seen me for a while if guns come up, I tell them that had tough times and I sold all my stuff. To the new people I meet I don't/won't talk about anything to do with politics, my personal life, and guns. To them, I'm anti-gun, "guns are icky."

You can never know when your NRA sticker or 'This Home Protected by Smith and Wesson' sign or sticker will attract attention of miscreants like Christopher David Nelson. He and a buddy murdered and dismembered a guy in Minnesota, then eventually headed toward Mexico. In my area they burglarized homes in Silver City and Pinos Altos to get enough guns to sell in Mexico for some cash. The night they intended to go across the border they robbed the Snappy Mart convenience store at 8th and Florida (aka the 'Stop and Rob') in Deming, NM, were spotted by PD officers, then started a combination running gunfight and barricaded suspect standoff at the Butterfield Motel on Pine Street, old US 70/80. When we finally coaxed him out (tear gas will do that), a search of the room allowed recovery of a bevy of stolen rifles, shotguns, and handguns. His accomplices shared that they looked for ".....obvious..." indications of guns in houses, waited until owners left, then broke in.

Advertising unnecessarily can cause problems.

If you'd like to read more about good 'ole Chris (I had to negotiate with him for hours, so we're kinda like acquainted), here's his murder appeal. The fact scenario may not affirm your notions of the fundamental goodness of human beings. I don't advertise. Not on the car and not on the house, with the exception of the alarm sign from the company we use.

I'm amazed at the number of people who festoon their pickup trucks, cars, even their homes and businesses, with all sorts of signs, stickers, and flags declaring their social or political views. With all the knuckleheads running around this country right now who are angry, unstable, and impulsive, why invite trouble? I don't get it...

Our 2A challenged gov says we must post a sign that says we specifically allow CC in our businesses. But only in the business types she deems OK for carry, of course. I have a sign allowing legal carry in my shop. Nothing else on the exterior. Inside however, I don't care and political and pro LE, pro-Military signs are visible. Mostly put up by me.
