Maxim's still at it over 100 years later?
Just found this a few minutes ago when I opened my computer. Correct me if I am wrong, but at .13 seconds into the video, it sure looks like they Ukranians are using a pair of Maxim machine guns on some sort of a flexible mount. What does the brain trust think? Sincerely. bruce.

At the very end there is an MG42...the rate of fire is at least double the Maxim!

The Maxim is still heavily used by Ukraine.
Thousands were refurbished and kept in cosmoline after WW2 and are essentially brand new old stock. Tons of parts available too.
The Maxim remains a legendarily reliable machine gun with extreme durability and endurance, even by todays standards. It’s still a frightfully effective weapon.

They need them. Reports I hear from a source there are bad. Just too many Ivans. The media is not honest about the situation.

We're still using M1911, aren't we ? If there is ordnance support, plenty of spares and the troops are properly trained, they might be old fashioned but they are far from obsolete.

I read today that with both sides loosing as many as 100,000 troops it won't take Russia long to win through attrition. Ukraine is currently drafting men as old as 43, its just a matter of time. Look at your average 43 year old man and try to put him in the battlefield. I started taking Karate lessons with my son when I was 40, I wasn't inactive by any means...it took a year before I was in the best shape of my life, but it did take a year.

They use paired Maxims and high intensity lights to defend against Shahad drones. All kinds of old AAA systems have been dragged out of storage to take on the drone/cruise missile scourge. The Ukrainians should receive another bunch (60?) of Gepard self-propelled systems soon. Trouble is the Swiss are being difficult about supplying the best ammo for dealing with drones.
