Default Skechers slip on shoes?

Skechers has a line of shoes with laces and elastic in the sides that allow you to slip them on. They claim that they are more comfortable than regular medium width shoes with a bit more room in the toe area for width. Any body have any experience with these? Durable? Ordering shoes is a gamble as to whether the sizing is over or under your normal size.

I can tell you my Dad who is 85 has no problems stepping into them and the heel area does not collapse. About sizing I have no idea.

Our daughter gave Mrs. swsig a pair recently. She likes them a lot, but there is one unusual aspect due to the tight tolerances required to keep them from flopping around. She can only get them to go on when she is wearing thin cotton socks. When she's wearing thicker wool socks, her Skechers simply won't go on, even with a shoehorn. So wear thick socks to make sure they fit when you're trying them on at a store.

These are the greatest invention since sliced bread! Especially for those who have severe low-back problems like I have. Also if you do outdoor work and need to slip out of muddy/manure covered boots and into clean shoes at the end of the day—they are a Godsend. Also in navigating airports.

I can’t recommend these Sketchers Slip-ins more highly.

*P.S. They run about a 1/2 size large for me. But it has not been a problem.

They probably are not all made in the same place, maybe not in the same country so sizing may be different for men's and women's shoes.

If you’re worried about sizing, order from Zappos. You can have delivered the same style from size 3 to size 13.

Keep the one that fits and send back all the rest, with shipping paid both ways.

Yes, some will say it’s priced into the shoe, but what’s your time worth, and I find their prices very competitive if not better.

The missus taught me that years ago when I saw multiple boxes of shoes being delivered and thought, WTH.

I have a pair of the Sketcher slip ons, no laces. I like them for traveling (TSA shoes off and on routine), on the plane, at home getting the mail, and the occasional short trip to the supermarket. Very comfortable and roomy.

Would not wear on a long walk though as I need more support for that.

Wearing them now as I type this. I find them to be very comfortable and easy to slip on and off.

Course I have worn loafers for most of my life and am quite used to the concept. I also wear sneakers a bit in the better weather but find I'm using the Sketchers more and more.

My size for shoes seem to fit with the Sketchers, color me happy!-

I had a pair that I really liked. Very comfortable and easy on/easy off. They fell apart after a year, and I elected to go with something that would last me a little longer. Good shoes, just not for my abuse.

What did you find?
I've had luck with canvas crocs but I'm using them exclusively for yard work, meanwhile I'm chewing thru the $20 ones from Amazon regularly.

Never tried the slip one. Some sketchers are horribly uncomfortable and some are very nice. But they break down quickly and the comfort is gone.

I recently purchased a pair of Hoka and they are very comfortable. Cost a little more but better than sketchers imo.

I have a pair of black suade Skechers that I use as part of my more formal and dignified ensembles. The rest of the time I am sporting black non-perforated Crocs. They will accompany me to the crematorium.

That will please both me and the viewing public.

My Sister, BIL and niece had that idea long before Skechers came up with it. The heel was squashed down to what would be it's final resting place. If it popped back up it was by accident. Purely total laziness on their part.

I'm surprised all of their clothes aren't as easy to put on or take off.

I got some Guy Harvey deck shoes that are going on two years of hard use. They look like what a homeless person would wear, but they are hardy, and comfortable as heck. For really nasty outdoor use I get those el cheapo deck shoes from walmart that if they last a month, I'm not out much money.

I've had 3 pair of the Sketcher slip-on (without laces).

I lost a pair that was black suede - No idea how.

I have a pair of gray suede that are about 7 years old and still serve as a "dress shoe."

I also have a 14 year old pair of brown suede that served as "dress shows" when they were much newer.
Today they serve garage duty.

They are easy on/off.
The heal fits tight, but not uncomfortable.
The front of the shoe is wider than normal. But that actually suits me because my feet swell after a lot of walking.
I've worn them on (light) hikes, all day in museums, and other long stretches. They're very comfortable.

Shooting a shotgun against the wind, here.

Our yard is unlevel and slopes a lot. I have had major back surgeries and my ankles seem to turn to the side easily when wearing these on unlevel ground. I quit wearing them, as don't want another surgery and don't know what might happen should I fall. I really liked them until the second time.

My experience with Sketchers shoes is that they are very comfortable but don't hold up to heavy use. I walk dogs 3-5 miles a day and the shoes break down in short time, 3 months tops before they have holes worn in the inner soles and most traction on the outer soles is worn off.

Well, I have never had any Sketchers but I do have a pair of Hey Doods. Easy on/off. Comfy. Durable. And super light. I have socks that are heavier.
I know they are popular so I wonder why nobody mentioned them.

Skechers sold well over $7B in shoes last year.

Folks, including Howie Long, seem to like them.

My Sketchers broke down really fast, went to Kizik slip on shoes and never looked back. Better built and better looking all the way around!

I normally take wide shoes but I can wear the slip-ons comfortably. They are nice shoes. Easy in and good support.

I have been wearing Orth-O-Feet shoes for years and they hold up great and work for people who feet swell. Just bought my first pair in the slip on and l love them. You can get them on Amazon but they are cheaper on the Orth-O-feet web site.

After a recent knee replacement this summer, I couldn't have gotten about without the slip on's. They fit fine, ( I did have to buy a half size smaller to fit we. We do have local retailer where you can try on. I would not recommend for standing on your feet all day, or walking a long distance. They just don't have the arch support needed. For routine around the house and daily activities work just fine.

I have SAS slip on shoes. No laces. Loafers I guess. They don't go on quite as easily as those Sketchers but do go on very easily. They do have good cush and arch support for my bad knees and back. They look "dress casual" to me. They can be dressed up or down. I wear them with jeans or a suit jacket. They are holding up well. I have a pair in both brown and black. They aren't the cheapest but not bad for what they are. "Navigator Non Slip loafer" list at $205 on the SAS site but the wife got them cheaper somewhere else. I go through prison security at least once a week and they go off and on easily. They seem pretty close to ortho type shoes.

I went yesterday and bought 2 pair. One in canvas the other in leather. Most days I spend 12 or 14 hours in Double H cowboy work boots. These shoes feel so good compared, I may start wearing them to and from work and easily slipping in and out of them.
