Default Alright...so who's gonna watch it???

The new 2024 version of Roadhouse is set to premiere on Prime March 21st.
I watched the trailer and think I'll pass for the time being. Ultimately it will come up somewhere and I WILL watch it, but after seeing the trailer, ...meh. You just will not get any better than Patrick Swayze's immortal line "Pain don't hurt" no matter what you put in a movie.
And how in the hell can you remake this movie without even a cameo from Sam Elliot????

I'd rather be waterboarded in a power substation.

I guess it's worthy of a watch just on the merits. If for no other reason to make the obvious comparison to the original. The entire cast of the Swayze original was such a good fit to the story line. Not many blind rockers to take Jeff Healey's spot. I'll know within a few minutes if I'll make it to the finish or not.

Without a doubt Roadhouse has a large cult following. I agree with you and think this will be a big flop. Unfortunately do-overs/remakes are the norm, these writers/producers have no imagination and just rehash old things. Normally a big waste of time!

Assuming they use the character list I wonder who will get the role of playing the beautiful Denise the "friend" of Brad Wesely!

The original was (maybe) worth watching one time. Years ago it would have rightfully been categorized as a "B" movie.

The original was great. The new one doesn't look that good to me but don't discount a good remake. I am one of those that think Jeff Bridges "True Grit" was better then John Wayne's.

The original is pretty good!
Every actor seems to be near perfect for their role.
Well, maybe the Lady Doc is just a little too Foxy!

The original is one of my wife's favorites. I have no explanation why. To me, it seemed like a parody of something, but I can't say what.

I’ll agree with you on that.

I’m thinking this Roadhouse remake will be about as good as the Walking Tall remake. Dwayne Johnson and Johnny Knoxville? Really?

Count me in. Jeff Bridges was better than Wayne and the Cohen brothers did a better job with the Portis novel. One of the very few remakes that was better than the original.

How about Papillion? Steve McQueen or Charley Hunnam? (I think I know the answer.)

I didn't like the original, it's just a stupid thug movie, so why would I watch a remake?

After watching both, I'd call neither a very good western, but tastes vary considerably.

The original was too corny. Not the acting, just the whole plot in general; very predictable.

Terry Funk died so they’ll have to replace him with a current pretty boy wrestler. Funk just had the redneck outlaw look.

The Jeff Healy Band was the best part of the original. I didn’t hate the movie, but it just didn’t hold my interest.

I enjoyed the original "Roadhouse". Swayze and Elliot were perfect in their roles. A remake with different actors might be okay but can't be (and shouldn't be) compared to the original. It should also have a different name. A perfect example is the original TV show "Equalizer" with Edward Woodward. Now we have "Equalizer" starring Queen Latifah. Sorry! Not even close.

Could it be that these shows were dreamed up during the Screenwriters strike by wannabe writers? They surely lack originality if nothing else.

I only liked the original because of the blonde doctor. I may watch the remake if the only other choice is CNN.

I'm surprised my wife has never expressed any interest in seeing the original. She swoons whenever she sees eiither Patrick Swayze or Sam Elliott. Maybe she doesn't know they were in it.

But a remake? I doubt it.

Sam Elliot actually makes a cameo, he's the greeter in the Walmart scene.

The original was a decent low budget, B action movie. Worth a watch, but nothing special. Its the only cult action movie I know of that's kept alive by a female following. The ladies love this thing! Patrick Swayze and Sam Elliott at their macho best. Male cheese cake through and through.
Have you ever seen a man go through the TV listings and shout "OH, Roadhouse is on!"

I have absolutely no doubt that this remake is gonna suck. Not only will they mess with the story line, but it'll be Hollyweird Woke to boot.

IDK, maybe I'll watch just to see if its as bad as I think it'll be.

I'm still wondering why they made another Willy Wonka.
Now... let's see a remake of Blazing Saddles. I dare them! Hopefully, heads would implode all across Hollywood.

Its worth watching only if its on a premium channel. There you get the whole movie. If its on a other type channel what you get is tons of commercials and way too much stuff cut out.

We don't need no stinking remakes.

I will definitely watch it - Jake Gyllenhaal is a favorite and I’m sure he’ll do a great job. I just hope there are Monster Trucks in this one, too.

Now... let's see a remake of Blazing Saddles. I dare them! Hopefully, heads would implode all across Hollywood.

My wife and I enjoyed Roadhouse. Hated to see Sam Elliott go out the way he did.

My favorite part was when the law came. Nobody saw anything. Except the guy with the bear in his face. The nurse was a true sweetheart.

While Hollywierd is at it, I'd like to see a remake of "Porky's".

For the time the original wasn't bad for predictable, formulaic story telling, and given the set-up Swayze and Elliot were okay . . . but Ben Gazarra was about as 'menacing' for a bad guy as Jackie Gleason. Can't find anyone that thinks Jeff Healey's appearance was bad casting.

I really liked how Swazey caught the girl in the air while they were dancing, yeah, that was neat.

And who can forget the immortal line "Polar bear fell on me." by the fat guy. This movie hits all the spots

Just watched it - loved it!

Conor McGregor can’t act, but who cares? Jake G was great and the supporting cast was lots of fun. I’m sure the musical acts were recognizable to someone who cares about music, which ain’t me. No monster trucks, though.

Good cheesy fun.

Just finished watching with my wife. It’s over 2 hrs. I expected it to be much shorter. It had a lot of similarities to the original. Same plot, Dalton and the Doctor. I thought it was entertaining. My wife fell asleep. Connor McGregor’s character is funny. And as mentioned, dude can not act. I’d say watch it. You could worse.

The original was the only movie I ever saw twice in the theater. I was in my early twenties and did the bar-hopping thing a lot. My girlfriend and I also really enjoyed Swayze's movies, including Next of Kin, Point Break, Ghost and City of Joy.

The movie also had a cult following back in the mid-to-late 2000's with people who practiced martial arts, such as those on mma forums and Joe Rogan types. IMO, that's the reason why it's actually being remade.

I actually own Patrick's 1986 Harley Davidson FXSTC which he purchased in 1990 right after the movie was made. It is a blast to ride. There were a couple, really cool Harley's pulling up to the bar in one scene of the film, so that is probably what caught his eye and led him to decide to purchase one. He owned a Honda street bike and dirt bike before then, too.
