Yeah, funny thing about Malthusians, they always think it's someone besides them who should get culled.

Yeah, when I hear someone saying that "we need to reduce the number of people on the planet" my first thought is OK, if that is what you believe, put your money where your mouth is and get yourself sterilized. That way we know you won't be adding to the problem. If that isn't enough of a step in the direction for you, then you can always choose to reduce the headcount by one - if you want to remove yourself from the equation...

In 2022 India had 21 million births. It is estimated that sometime this year they will eclipse China in population.

Detective Richard Thorn was on to something in 1973.

IMO it is HILARIOUS to watch.

A young head full of mush, appearing as an "expert witness" testifying before a Congressional hearing, just so he can regurgitate the "climate change emergency" talking points.

Funny, but when he is asked even the most fundamental question about "climate change" dogma (what is CO2 and how much is there in our atmosphere), he shows his complete ignorance by admitting that he knows absolutely NOTHING about CO2 - other than the activist talking point that CO2 is BAD. He can't even answer the question of what is CO2 (1 carbon atom bonded to 2 oxygen atoms), how is it produced from fossil fuels, or how much of it is there in our atmosphere? The answer to that last question is 0.04% BTW. The fact that CO2 is a trace gas that makes up only 4/10,000th of the earth's atmosphere is a FACT that this "expert witness - climate activist" is totally unaware of.

IMO, where Senator Kennedy missed the boat was that he DIDN'T ask "what essential role does CO2 play in our planetary ecosystem?" I'm sure this young "expert" couldn't have even explained that plants absorb CO2 and use it to produce OXYGEN and sugar (through photosynthesis) - and that the sugar plants produce through their absorption of CO2 is THE main source of energy for ALL life on this planet.

I'd be willing to bet my next pension check that 75% (or more) of these "climate change activists" don't have even this most fundamental understanding of how the earth's eco-system works. Something that most of us Boomers learned in the 3rd or 4th grade.

Senator Kennedy did a pretty good job of exposing this kid's ignorance and indoctrination. Kennedy basically reduced his testimony to "All I know is I'm seeing less snow for me and athletes like me to ski on. It must be SOMEBODY'S fault and we need to do whatever it takes and spend whatever it takes to fundamentally change all of human society to FIX it - so I still have enough snow to keep ski-ing."

The basic ignorance of the current generation is absolutely APPALLING. But yet we BOOMERS are expected to bow to their opinions. Or be dismissed with phrases like "OK Boomer".

LOL. OK, get a clue kid...

While I am somewhat anxious about the world that my kids and grandkids will inherit, at the same time I am somewhat thankful that I will probably be long dead before folks like this become "the adults in charge".

Climate change is the biggest fraud ever hoisted on the world.

Here is an article about the Hittites who were mentioned in the Bible but not much was known about them so many "scholars" thought they really didn't exist. Now, it turns out several findings confirm that they did in fact exist and were a kingdom and the Bible wasn't some fantasy book.

A 3,300-year-old tablet found at B"ukl"ukale from Hittite Empire describes catastrophic invasion of four cities - Arkeonews

The interesting part is how they explained the demise of the Hittites with one being climate change. Of course, they don't tell us what changed and when, just that it did.

So here is the problem with this recent revelation. It either proves that the climate has always changed over time or they have to explain why there would have been global warming in a civilization that was much smaller in numbers, no cars, no man made pollution. So what happened? I am sure "Science" has the answers. BTW, the kids in school are reading climate change in every math book, history book and of course science book.

I decided long ago never to have children. An unhappy confluence of genetics resulted in massive eye problems for me from birth. I am only able to lead a normal life because of modern (-ish in the 60s ) medicine. Knowing how much grief that caused my family and myself, there was no way I was about to roll the dice and risk putting a child through the same.

That said, it has no bearing on my general thoughts on population growth. That is more about coming from a small country and watching its natural beauty being paved over to house a burgeoning population. Yes, I'm aware that I march to a very different drum when it comes to the drive to procreate. I have other views on life that wouldn't necessarily please all on the forum, but none of them have connection with my belief in the right to bear arms. I don't subscribe to the "if you support view A, you must also support View B" categorization that plagues modern society. Don't go there with me, because I'll just laugh.

Every time I try to stay out of this pointless debate, I read something that draws me back in...

Yes, it's certainly true the climate has changed cyclically over many thousands of years, and nobody denies that. But what is happening now that alarms scientists and objective observers is not simply that the climate is changing, but that it is changing at a rate which has never before been seen...and that is worrisome.

While there are many sources for data about climate change, I find NASA's website to be one of the most interesting and easy-to-understand. Yes, science does have the answers to how and why this is happening, for those willing to view the evidence with an open mind.

Could it be that the rate of warming is increasing faster because our ability to measure the temperature of the earth has rapidly gotten better? That's one of those questions that the climate scientists tend to dance around.

I’ll ask again. Why does any activist/alarmist still drive gas powered vehicles? Feel that the world is in such grave danger? Why contribute? Hypocrisy comes to mind.

I watched this and enjoyed it so much I watched several other of Sen Kennedy's expert witness interrogations.

He is a master at facilitating expert witness' opportunity to demonstrate how inexpert and ill-prepared they really are.

When he gets done, or runs out of time, there is no witness credibility left.

Virtuoso performances by Sen Kennedy.

I am not sure what the climate activists would have me do. I no longer burn tires in my fire pit so beyond that I'm not the problem.

Why don't they protest in China or India? They've got bigger carbon footprints than we do.

Add Russia to that list. And all of the 3rd world.

What's more their carbon footprints are increasing more than ours because they aren't even making a serious effort at reduction.

It's pretty toxic in those places. Maybe they're afraid they'll get high levels of lead in their bodies.

I've compromised . . . I save 'em all up and only burn them on Earth Day instead of year round.
