I have been getting my fill of asparagus on sale at less than 2.00 a pound.
I will miss being in RI where I hunt areas for wild asparagus in the spring. I generally get maybe 10 pounds.

Yesterday the Crypt Keeper said if I went and got some at the store she would make soup. So I got 3 pounds and she made a wonderful soup. Got about 9 quarts left. It took her a long time to make. May have to take her to dinner

We blanch the asparagus then place it on a lightly oiled cookie sheet. In the microwave we melt butter and add cayenne and grated nutmeg then drizzle it on the asparagus and pop it under the broiler for a bit.

Most tasty.

I've got a nice asparagus patch growing along one of our fence lines. I've also noticed some asparagus along the bank of the little creek that runs in front of my southeast pasture. It usually doesn't start producing until May, then goes pretty solidly way into June.

We usually place it on a large baking sheet with olive oil, salt, and coarse ground pepper, and bake it at 475 degrees for about 5-7 minutes. Great stuff.

I love asparagus any way it can be fixed. Our garden raised beds have one planted to asparagus, should be available next year.

Best I ever had was Feral asparagus off the ditch bank from nearby Corrales, NM.

I'm certain that this forum has a mind-reading code/ability built in. In the years I've been a member and before, Asparagus has, to my knowledge, never been discussed or even mentioned. Today I was considering setting aside a section of the old garden area and planting asparagus, and letting it mature for the long time before real production begins. It was really just a passing thought and got dismissed very quickly. Then, within three hours ti shows up on the forum. Now I'm afraid to even think.

I just did a search and found 471 posts about asparagus.

Lots of folks like it (especially snubby).

In my 29 years on the wet side of WA, I saw it growing wild in the ditch many times and in many places.

Unfortunately, it isn't nearly as common to see it growing wild here in the dry, RIGHT side of the state.

But we still buy and eat a lot of it when it is in season. One of my favorite green veggies.

Funny. Bought a handful Tuesday because of how fresh it was and the size was just right, and the wife boiled me half of it for tonight's meal, along with a nice piece of ham and a salad of Romaine hearts, cucumbers, and tomatoes.

She fixed me a strawberry cup cake afterwards. Love it, and her.

I have to agree with the OP and others who enjoy asparagus.

I have fond memories of harvesting asparagus at my grandmother's truck farm for her roadside stand.

My wife and I enjoy garlic and asparagus makes a great side dish with any garlic laced main dish. A few days ago, the asparagus was married with shrimp scampi and spaghetti pasta. Tis the season to add spears of green to our dinner plates.

Seeing as how we got snow the last 3 nights in a row and its not going to get above freezing until sometime Tuesday, I think it will be a while before it starts popping out of the ground around here. Learned to spot wild asparagus as a kid riding with my mom and an aunt cruising the irrigation ditches and creeks as a kid

Love it cooked any way. My preferred method is baked in countertop “ air baking” oven under couple pieces of almost done bacon. Partially cook bacon on low heat in frying pan. lay asparagus out on small baking rack place partially cooked bacon on top then cook on air bake for about 5 minutes. Bacon gets done with asparagus which is Seasoned by bacon, hard to beat.

Makes my pee smell funky...

asparagus wrapped in bacon and bake is hard to beat, But, then you could fry Kale with bacon and have it taste good.

When the harvest is going good here, we can pints of pickled spicy asparagus all cut to length with the tops on every stem for presentation, for use in our cocktails or just snacking. Great stuff for sure!
Small jars are really pricey in the stores.

ANYTHING is better with bacon.

When I was a kid asparagus season was my time to hit the roads...on my bike. It grew wild everywhere. Not unusual to get 20 pounds in a day. We ate some and my mother sold some in the Mom&Pop grocery store. As I got older the darn stuff started to disappear. The farm spray killed much of the wild stuff along the roads and I think the state roads people applied something to the sides of the roads to keep the grass and weeds down so they only had to mow once or twice a year.

I like to dump a couple of cans of cream of asparagus soup into a big pan and then add a can of cooked asparagus to it. Makes a really hearty soup.
It would no doubt be better if it were made fresh, but for a quick meal, the canned stuff is pretty good, IMO.

We like them warm or cold with Best foods Mayo, however it is fantastic
with the small tips cooked , placed on a plate and then.........

heated butter, cooked to a dark brown, poured over them.

Adding some "Parm" on top is an option.

Married . . . . That word in your post made me think of Marry Me Chicken. Wonderful stuff with sun dried tomatoes, Parmesan/cream sauce, garlic and boneless chicken thighs. One thing makes it phenomenal. Asparagus! Broiled and tossed into the mix is synergism at its best.

I used to like it steamed with mayo as a "dip".
Now I just eat steamed with some seasoning salt.

My favorite now is coated in olive oil, a little salt and a little parmesian cheese and roasted in the broiler.

Enough to make me quit eating it

I like it grilled, baked or I will pick it and eat it right there. Did that just yesterday the first stalk in the garden this year.

We had asparagus last night with lamb chops, baked potatoes and orange wedges. Just a few minutes in the air fryer with olive oil, a quick shot of lemon juice and kosher salt.
