Default Hearing aids, pleasant surprise at Costco

2+ years ago my MIL and I both got hearing aids at Costco. About $1600 a pair for each of us.
Fast forward to this past Christmas Eve.
I fell asleep in the recliner with my aids in and around 1AM they started beeping, telling me the batteries were low. I got up and took them out being I did want them beeping in my ear until they died.
I was pretty much like a zombie when I took them out and have yet to find out where I put them.
I know if I order new ones the old ones will show up immediately after.
Last week my wife goes to Costco and asks about my hearing aids. The woman at the counter looks up my original order and says my aids have a 3 year warranty against loss. But……there is a fee. ONE CENT!! The best part is my wife had no cash on her so the woman gave her the penny.
The only possible downside is she said the new ones may not be Bluetooth.
Which is nice, watching my Bluetooth equipped TV.

I bought a pair of Beltones for 5500 hundred and wish I had gotten the cheap 279 a pair ones. Jeff

I used Costco, as did my parents, and was happy with them. That was prior to the VA changing the criteria where now any compensable disability, even if it isn't for hearing, will give you hearing aids and glasses.

The set that I have from the VA now is excellent, and had full bluetooth and TV streaming functions.

I have a pair from Costco and have had good luck with them. Planning on getting a pair of glasses from Costco because I have heard that they have the best prices around. Always hated to pay several hundred dollars for $25 worth of glass and plastic but got to have them and the sellers know and stick it to you.

Costco is great for glasses!

My medicare allows me $800 per ear credit towards hearing aids. So I booked a Kaiser audiologist appointment because Costco does not do medicare.

My Medicare plan for vision would have cost more than a Costco exam and glasses.

I just got a new pair from the VA, same brand as the previous. The new ones pick up a lot of interference via Bluetooth that the old ones don't. I use mine primarily when listening to YT videos on my laptop. Not sure what to make of it.

My wife needed a new pair. I tried to get her to go to Costco, but she absolutely refused, ended up paying $5500. But at least she likes them, they have all the latest stuff - Bluetooth, etc., and the batteries last a lot longer than in her old pair. And where she bought the new pair give her free batteries for life and also free service for life. I guess that is something.

Fell asleep with them on/in last Saturday.. When I awoke a couple of hours later, my left one was gone. We searched the bed, sheets and cover, blanket, pillows, under the bed, and looked under the nightstand. Nothing. Went most of the weekend with just one. These calibrate to my ears. I just had them
adjusted to my latest hearing loss. Monday, the wife hands it to me. I have to ask people to repeat themselves or look at me far less now.

I like the Lexie Bose B2 - Bluetooth adjustable, rechargeable, $900. Costco or Amazon.

My ENT doc recommends Jabra or Bose, sold OTC. No need to spend thousands he says.

Either can be had for -$1,000.

That’ll be my move when the time comes.

In 2014 I purchased hearing aids through an audiologist. They were better than no hearing aids, and were not comfortable. $4000 for that experience.

After they died I bought the Bose OTC. They amplified everything but did not address the deficiencies in my hearing. Also there was an annoying "BATTERY LOW!!" shriek in a woman's voice that was very unsettling by it's volume and insistence. The Bose hearing aids were not consistent in being able to connect to the app.

I have recently purchased Rexton hearing aids through Costco. Certainly technology has improved in the 10 years since I purchased my first hearing aids from the audiologist, but the testing and care in fitting by Costco greatly exceeded that of the audiologist. $1600 for hearing aids that work for me was a no brainer after using the Bose. These are comfortable and work well.
