Joe Lieberman has passed
Joe Lieberman passed away today at 82. Despite being a Democrat, I kinda liked him. Seemed to have a pretty good head on his shoulders. R.I.P. Mr. Lieberman.

John McCain was thinking about a bipartisan ticket in 2008 and thought about Joe as his VP pick but the RNC would have nothing to do with it.

Too bad they probably won't get another one like him to take his place.

From the reaction here it sounds like he passes the test for statesman, rather just being a politician.

He certainly was 'old school', and in my estimation that was a good thing. I don't see anyone in congress these days that can match his style. We need more like him. I didn't always agree with him, but I certainly admired him. May he rest in peace.

He was from the days when just about everyone was closer to the center. We could use more of that now.

He wasn't very gun friendly, especially when he was running with Gore.

He was a great man and a noble politician... felt like he was beyond the corruption that pollutes DC.. we would all be better off if there were more like him... on both sides.

While we stood apart on several issues and he inhabited the opposite side of the aisle he gave me no cause to disrespect him.
He possessed a dignity and civility that is sadly lacking inside the beltway today.

Although not of my party, I consider Lieberman, Carter and Adli Stevenson as the morally and ethically best the Democratic Party as had, or probably ever have again.

He was a good man. The fact that so many here think highly of him sort of speaks volumes.
I can't resist pointing our that if this was SGW forum, we'd all probably be dinged for posting "political content." Sorry, long story, and couldn't resist!

I read the article and was a bit saddened by it. I was always thought of him as a honest and honorable man. Rest in peace, Senator…….
