would need better photos.. alot of ww1 AP bullets were solid metal.

A micrometer, a scale and a bullet.

I can't ID the bullet and it's hard to read the micrometer. Is the diameter .428"? Try a magnet on it.

Looks to me like a 50 BMG steel core.

Soft? Ball round.
Hardened? Armor piercing.

.430 on smooth part. Yes is magnetic.

Looks like a penetrator from a .50 BMG AP bullet. Or maybe a similar foreign round.

I'd say that is the core of a 50 BMG AP round. Never heard of a Spitzer Boat Tail 444 Marlin round!
