Don't want to leave out the other products you are told you cant do without like a Tac-light,Bullet garden hose or glare free sunglasses. But you better hurry due to supply or inventory issues.

Remember most of these items are touted by a former athlete,veteran or politician and if you cant trust their word who can you trust.

I really believe that people in advertising are just wannabe lawyers that couldn't pass the Bar exam. They might not be actually lying to you but their words have more twists than a piece of licorice.

Somewhere out there is a hypochondriac or person with OCD that has maxed out their credit cards watching TV.

What, me worry?

When I was in junior high cable TV was coming to Tulsa and the great part was, there would be no commercials since you were paying a monthly fee and they would not need any sponsors. Well, there were some commercials on some channels but not near as many as "over the air" antenna TV. That changed and now even on cable, commercials seem like at least 25% of any show you watch and you're paying 200 bucks a month for the pleasure.

I note that a lot of those commercials are more like infomercials.

Instead of slamming you with a whole bunch of obnoxious commercials (5 -6) they put on one looooooong huge one.


To name one of the big offenders it is the Smithsonian channel!

To me it seems like most of their commercials are begging for money or abused animals or someone at deaths door hacking and wheezing telling you to give up your vices.

One of the morning local news broadcasts is mostly big pharma commercials. "Ask your doctor about.."

The other is mostly local law firms.

You know what, I'd sooner see those ads for an actual product on some weird OTA station than be on a network channel with constant "story at 11" ads for the local affiliate. Even after 25+ years here I will never be convinced that advertising a news show is a good use of bandwidth. Just. No.

At the beginning of the show you want to watch, hit “ PAUSE “ on hour remote, go do something else for 15-20 minutes, hit “ PLAY “, and when a commercial comes on, “ FAST FORWARD “ thru the commercial, and continue with your show.

I rarely watch anything during the time it is broadcast. I record most everything I want to see so I can blow through the commercials and station breaks.
