Heads are on the 351 Cleveland!
I got the heads on the 351 Cleveland! I will measure for push rods Monday! I’m finally on a down hill slope for this build. The compression ratio should be around 9:1 give or take. I should be able to run on pump gas. Hopefully have this thing running soon.
Using ARP bolts.

I remember back in my youth, Clevelands were good engines with a distinct sound. A buddy had a 71 Mach 1 with a 351 and he'd kick his younger brother's 70 SS Nova's *** regularly. My 71 340 Demon not so much. 340s had a distinct sound too.
The good ole days.

As annoying as this is taking me to finish this car. The set backs and change of engine and transmission. As least I have a chance to finish it. I just watched a short video of a Russian husband and wife animation team. Yuri Norstein and Franceska Yardusova has been working on a animated movie for 40 years and might not ever finish it. If they can keep moving forward despite their set backs. I can keep moving along on a stupid project car lol

Im going to work on it some more Monday and hopefully order the push rods and other parts this week. I do have to stop later this month to replace one of my Allegro AC units and some roof repairs.

Things are moving along smoothly with the Torino. Now my motor home has hit a small snag. I may or may not need to drop my Allegro gas tank. And I want to hurry up and replace one of my roof ac before summer comes around.

The 351 Cleveland was the preferred engine in the Mustangs. Ford made a 351 Windsor but if I recall it didn’t have the performance of the Cleveland. Dad sold Fords and my step mom had a brand new white 1969 Mach 1 with all the options including 351 Cleveland with shaker scoop through the hood. A nice ride.

During the 70’s and early 80’s we didn’t think much of the 351M/400 engine. It was not one of Ford Motor Company’s best engines for a lot of reasons. Just my view as an engine design and development engineer during that period. It was great for NASCAR in the early 80’s running at 7000+ rpm and Bill and Ernie Elliot dominated with the right cylinder heads.

My Cleveland isn’t a insane build. It’s using 2V heads with forged pistons at 30 over. A entire compcams kit that includes the springs, lifter timing chain and so on. Edlebrock performer intake (that I bought used) with a Holley carburetor. I decided to build this motor to be more practical then insane.

Bought a Mach 1 from a fellow at work. He couldn't get it running. Pulled the tank cleaned gas lines and carb. 351 shaker hood side scoops etc etc. Only had 37000 miles on it. Sat for 4 years. Drove it home. needed a tune...did that . Gonna give it to my son. Left one day shopping came home cop in the yard. Caught him wearing the tires out doing better than 90 with no tags. I told him not to drive it till we got tags and insurance. Sold it 3 days later. After the fines and loss of his license 4 months...he couldn't drive it anyway. He was PO'd.
