I've been aware of it for quite some time.
the solid state battery solves these issues, but it's being slow walked in development.
Till then, I find a little resentment each and every time I buy a replacement Li Ion or LiPo

I have no fear of flying.
Crashing on the other hand is a different matter...

Maybe the systems are monitored and the pilot can address a problem.
I believe the plane fires that have developed are ones that were stored in a checked suitcase.

Kinda like it's not the fall that gets you, it's the sudden stop.

You've never cutout on a creosote utility pole. The sudden stop is a relief when you are sliding down a creosote pole and picking up splinters all way. Larry

Done that a few times.
Buck squeeze rules!
All that being said, I have to be hammered to get on a plane.
Hate flying.
Go on vacation once a year with the wife, usually someplace warm and sandy. Need to get buzzed just to get on a plane.

Army buddies would say, the hardest thing about
being in an Airborne Division, is the ground.

Reminds me of the old George Carlin joke about booking a flight:
Agent: "Where would you like to sit?"
George: "In the black box."
