It seems that the richer you are...
The more out of touch with reality you are.
Quote:
Microsoft co-founder and billionaire Bill Gates is behind an organization seeking to vaccinate cows with the aim of preventing so-called climate change.
|
Gates invested in Rumin8, an Australian climate technology company exploring dietary supplements for cows that will similarly stop them from farting. Gates is also the leader of an investment fund behind ArkeaBio, a Boston pharmaceutical company that is seeking to develop a livestock vaccine that will help reduce global vaccine emissions.
No report yet if either product will be made available for humans.

I have read that cows farting is one of the leading causes of the methane build up in the atmosphere, maybe he's on to something!

Termites are the largest emitters of methane. Try vaccinating those little buggers. Joe

I sure hope not-farting is one of the few pleasures I have left.

Bill Gates, who I think is currently the richest man in the world, is also a great philanthropist who has done much to aid the health and well being of millions.
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - Wikipedia
He funds all sorts of initiatives all over the place. While few are as amusing as cow fart control, I believe he is really trying hard, and on the whole successfully, to use his wealth to create a better world for all of us.

I'm mighty suspicious of anyone buying prime, productive farmland by the tens of thousands acres at a pop. Are we all sure that his idea of a "better world" contains "unfettered individual freedom?" Joe

Pardon my skepticism, but I think it is about control. These billionaires want to control everything and everyone. It is how they get more. They could give a rats behind about the common man. Gates is building a 5000 sqft bunker in Hawaii. As are all the billionaires. Gate, Bezo, Soros, and the rest of them just want control. They tell the government what to do.

I'm also might suspicious of ultra super rich people making big expensive moves. I beleive there is a lot more going on than what occasionally hits the media. Our rich lords think they know what best for the common folk and have the resources to accomplish their goal -

First of all richest persons are currently Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. Gates is around #7.
Secondly, you can't believe much of what is posted on Wiki. Bill's ex-wife is leaving her position at the Foundation. Apparently she's of the same opinion as we are.
Finally...There is only one Being that made us in his image and it isn't Bill Gates or even Al Gore!

Oh yeah. Well I heard he was going to grossly over pay for the KC Chiefs just so he could trade Patrick Mahomes to Seattle. Heard it on overnight AM radio so I know it’s true.

Gates has four jets worth an estimated $400 million. None of them run on pixie dust or sunshine.
Here's one of them...
It must be nice to be him..

It's not farts!
Hate to belabor the point as it is popular, off-color, and gross, all things men generally like - but bovine methane does NOT come from cow farts.
The vast majority of it is belched through the mouth from the rumen chamber, the first of the multi-chambered stomachs of cattle. A secondary source is manure after it is eliminated.
There are already CRISPR technology responses in field trials and in line for regulatory approval. Most of them are plant-based solutions to breed fodder (plant-based animal food) that releases less methane upon digestion. Hard to absolutely eliminate methane from plant digestion processes but it can, apparently, be reduced significantly from cow belch emission.
I know, it's more fun to refer to farting, but it's not so. Just sayin'.

Right you are about world's richest man.. I was conflating Gates' personal wealth ranking with Microsoft regaining the top market cap position from Apple earlier this year.

Maybe Gates should be investing his money into inventing some sort of synthetic grass that won't cause cows to burp or fart and still taste good.

There is a feed lot with about 30,000 steers a bit west of town. I hope it don't explode. But, I am actually more worried about the nuclear war heads that are closer.

Stinky air started again today. Celebrities pontificate about 'climate change' and insist we wreck our economy trying to eliminate that last particle of pollutant, meanwhile wildfires spread ash and soot everywhere.

We closed factories and people lost jobs from trying to govern clean air.
The parts were cheaper in certain countries from lack of clean air goals.
It helped to change at least two countries' well-being, but had me wonder how much regulating part of the earth while others exploit it will matter in the end.
Making the earth better would include making the people better; not making things easier so they can sit at home, and depend on computers
and calculators. Looking at the costs of foods nowadays, please don't make a nice steak cost more.

Aww... Don't matter much, really, Beemerguy. We're just a little nook of the internet here.
Nothing we can solve, so my view is no point trying.
Some folks are just into all that conspiracy BS. I think it is due to their circumscribed choice of media reading/watching material.
But they're passionate about it.
My view is just let 'em be.
Just makes everyone unhappy if we get into trying to correct one another's understanding.

Wait; so I don't need to believe the "elites" want to control existence, force me to drive enclosed golf carts and give up personal liberty because they have it all under control. Phew, that's a load lifted
PS, my paranoia doesn't negate those actually out to get me. Joe

The COVID lock down was a test run. Look at all the information that is coming out. Mask don't work, shots really didn't work. What will be the next one to come, say, August or September. Control is what they want and a compliant citizenry.

Always remember this:
The lords are indifferent and dismissive to the serfs and peasants beneath them.

I recall something about a camel and the eye of a needle.

Money is not the root of evil, it's the LOVE of money that is a root of some kinds of evil. There is nothing wrong with achieving wealth, but letting it become your master is.

I'm old enough to remember when "they" were going to "control" us by adding fluoride to our drinking water. Decades later, I'm still waiting for the all-powerful "they" to be identified, and to step forward with their plans to dominate us.
Paranoid drivel like that makes me chuckle. Anything anybody could want to know about any of us is available to any ten-year old with a smart phone. Google yourself sometime if you doubt that. Your credit card issuers, your insurance companies, your neighbors, and yes, the government, all know far more about you than you realize...and there is no way to prevent them from acquiring that information. Welcome to the modern age.
Anybody who thinks that public health officials trying to save lives during a deadly pandemic are really part of some nefarious plot to "control" us needs to have his tinfoil hat re-sized...

Really? What more could they control than having more money than God doesn't already give them? Being that rich already puts them far above any government, court or law, so how is having any more going to improve what they already have? He even has more than enough money to be able to ignore your conspiracy theories about him.
It's the "common man" that buys Bill Gates' software that made him this rich in the first place, and if the common man has more money, prosperity and free time they will buy even more of it - so why would he want to ruin that?
Personally, I am fully aware than I am by far not interesting enough for anyone to want to control - except possibly my wife!
