They definitely do things differently in Newfoundland
Even assault.
Man wielding a 'block of cheese' attacks Newfoundland officer
Newfoundland police have laid charges on a “very irate male” who attacked a patrol officer with a block of cheese...
The angry man was taken to a St. John’s lock up, Canadian Press reported. The type of cheese used and the reason for the assault was not known...
“He assaulted the police with a block of cheese. I mean, how dairy!” Peter Barfoot commented about the incident on X...

Or, if it was really old cheese and he had it in his pocket, I suppose he could also be charged with possession of a congealed weapon.

If the perp was carrying Roquefort the officer could have justified deadly force.

I hadn't read about that! There's a reason they're at the other end of the country...
Comment just in from a friend here: Done there; been that...!
Fortunately, the cod was frozen.

"The incident occurred during a domestic disturbance call at 9 p.m., according to a press release."
In my opinion, the man was justified in his actions. His wife served him Wisconsin cheddar, and not Vermont cheddar. I would react the same way.

I don't doubt that you have good cheddar in VT, but w e have our own stellar cheddar up here. Smacking someone with this could result in a concussion. As I have to go to Costco today, I think I'll pick some up and some crackers.

It's a strange place, and I can say that since I was born there.
