Best marriage adwvice
Heard this on Tim Allens show "Last man standing" When asked how has he been married so long to his tv wife he replied "marry someone you would die for, everything else is easy". 58 years for me and missus this June.

58 years is a good long time. Most people do not live long enough to be married that long, no matter how young they were when first married. Obviously you were the right ones for each other. Remember you each are only bound by your vows until death, but you will always be married as long as you desire to continue to be.
My true wife and I were married for 58 years and 3 months at the time of her death. I still wear her ring and always will.

Wish I could say that. But 3 down and no more for me. You know 3 strikes and you are out.

Willing to die for doesn't do any good if they say "no".

Our next anniversary is July 9, married in Buffalo. Will also be our 58th. Wasn't always so easy, and we still have our differences. I just had to learn to give in to the boss on many things in order to keep the peace.

My grandparents on my Mom’s side were married for 74 years. They got married after he got back from France after WWI. Raised 9 kids on a farm in SW Missouri.
They died a few months apart at home in 1994.
They were wonderful people and I was very close to them. Their minds were good right up to within a few weeks of the end.
I still miss them.

Fifty-six years for us. I had a waiter at our 50th anniversary ask what the secret was to a long marriage. I told him, jokingly, it’s the words “Yes dear.”

Congratulations. I didn't get married until I was in my mid 30s and we just celebrated 35 years together.
I knew I was going to marry my dear wife the day I met her. Wonderful woman.

Last Monday was our 46th. I was talking with 3 friends that are at 44, 48, and 52. The consensus for a long marriage come down to 2 things.
1) take your time and marry the right person (the guy at 44 years got engaged on the first date!)
2) realize there is NO plan "B"!

And there are some people who know they shouldn't marry and don't. I had one very good friend who was not gay, but he simply had no interest in marriage because he knew that his personality was incompatible to having any long term relationship with a woman. He died very wealthy (he was a financial genius) but still single about 15 years ago. I always felt sorry for him because his whole life revolved around making deals and making money.
