Panthers were too big, too fast, too physical and too tenacious for the Rangers on the road to the Stanley Cup.

Yes. And there are a lot of ex Buffalo Sabres on that team. Funny how they go elsewhere and achieve big things. Ryan O’Rielly, Jack Eichel, Sam Rinehart , Linus Ullmark ……….. the list goes on and on.

Hank Goldberg was a radio broadcaster in S. Fla, first heard him as a sideline reporter in 1970 for the Dolphins. He did an afternoon show for years and had an ESPN gig as a horseracing expert. He was crass, unapologetic and wicked smart but had a knack for interviews that made subjects I wasn't interested in worth listening to, even horseracing.
The yearly forum threads started by labworm perked an interest in hockey so I began to follow the local team a bit closer. The Panthers had up and down seasons than started to be decent until last year's run. Seeing them likely to repeat as conference champs I considered reviving the playoff thread but opted out for various reasons.
I'd like to extend a belated thanks to the members who contributed to opening me up to a sport with a combo of grace, power and handspeed that makes a shortstop look slow.
Esp. Mike the Ranger fan.

Labworm was the glue in the Cup threads. His back and forth with Strato was epic. 
It will be 5 years hes gone come Nov 22. The thread would/could never be the same without him, one of the funniest guys Ive ever met, and a true gentleman.
Many of participants in those threads disappeared, some seem like forever. I rarely, if ever see them posting.
I stay in touch with his sister on FB who lives in Sarasota.

Hi Ladder13, Hope you are doing well.
I miss LW as well, great guy. I think of him fondly every year during the NHL playoffs.
I was pulling for your Rangers until the Kittys sent them to the golf courses. Now I have to support FL.
Can't have Canadians taking Lord Stanley's Cup..up....there. 
Heaven knows what chaos would ensue if they won!

LW was a hardscrabble guy growing up in a tough neighborhood in Chelsea MA. His sister says he was a small statured lightweight guy but was good with his hands, and that helped him get by.
I had plans to meet him someday for a lobster roll but that ended abruptly.

Different flavor this game with shots taken and esp. power plays.
Oilers showing speed up the middle makes anyone look human. Can't figure the 4 on 4 for the whole 2 min. after the Edmonton goal. Lots I still have to learn
Would almost rather see a "here, smell my glove" moment than knees and sticks. Going to be a good third.

Fla's best player taken out of last game with an iffy shot.
If Tkachuk hit Connor the same I figure he'd be sitting for this game.

So much for a long grueling 7 game series. Seems like the Cats are going to wrap this one up quick.
I'm still pulling for the Kittys, but as they say I have no dog in this hunt. My team was on the links a whiiiile ago. I just want bonus hockey with close games. Not so much.

We got the full seven games and the tension will be amazing!
FL just needs to focus, show aggression - yet discipline, tidy up the NZ and leave it all on the ice. Hockey fans are in for a treat.
Clearing the late day schedule and bailing out of the office at a reasonable time tomorrow. I cannot wait to see this game...enjoy!
