I called S&W last week in search of a replacement rear sight screw for my 6" 629. I had removed the scope and put the sight back on, apparently without Loctite. At any rate, the sight returned from the range loose in the gun rug - with the screw MIA. I looked everywhere - even used a magnet to go through my wife's vacuum cleaner bag after she told me of the rattles she heard while vacuuming my room. I thought she learned her lesson re vacuuming my room a couple of years back when she sucked up and detonated a live primer, probably transoprted via my shoe's soft sole.

A call to S&W CS yielded a freebie replacement screw - and a request for a 2009 catalog was made, too. I told him my pusher didn't have them yet - probably a bit frugal. What I got today is nothing like previous catalogs - it's more like a periodical - a magazine - than previous catalogs. In fact, it clearly states 'Bonus: Special 60-Page Product Guide' on the cover. That 'Product Guide' is the catalog in tabulated format - the remainder is full of interesting articles. The disclaimer on the table of contents page refers to it as a magazine. Of course, every advert is for a S&W... and the interesting articles are from some quite well known authors... and on S&Ws - go figure! Seriously, it is well worth getting a copy. No price is stated inside or out, so I assume it's still a freebie - if you ask nicely.

Gotta go - I must have some library time ahead - and a great wish & entertainment read to enjoy.

PS Thanks to the nice folks at S&W for that replacement screw... I no longer have a screw loose... well, not that one, anyway!
