That is the only time I do not want that fraction of a second delay in getting my vehicle moving. Otherwise its a nothing burger that I ignore.
I agree its NOT bothersome. You hardly feel it and the car runs fine.

When your starter dies a month past warranty, and you need a towtruck and have to pay the bill, then maybe you will understand that government nannies are not the right thing to have.

As far as the government is concerned, no expense should be spared to save a gallon of gasoline. If it ends up costing a consumer $500 in future repairs to save a gallon, that's okay, because it's good for the planet. Meanwhile, the elites that push this fly around the globe in their Gulfstream jets.

Thanks for answering my question, Steve. I doubt it will stop the motor much in the middle of the day around here then during summer. I usually keep the thermostat set at 65 and on recirc in my truck unless it's cloudy during the summer months just to stay ahead of the heat. Still it's yet another "feature" I personally have no use for. Just something else to break.

I know this much for a fact. If I didn't like auto stop start, I would not buy a vehicle with it

For the cost of a new car or truck you could buy a 20 year old one, have a completely rebuilt motor and transmission with warranty installed. New radiator, shocks, ball joints, U joints, new upholstery and a paint job. Or you could do like I did and buy 2 Nice luxury cars with around 100,000 miles on them and have enough left over to buy half a dozen more if one has a serious break down.

I guess the standing charges and costs must be a lot less than we suffer here in NV. Our insurance rates are steep in the Vegas area, and registration fees are based on the original MSRP of the vehicle and a depreciation formula. It's not hard to run up a registration bill of $1000 on a single vehicle here.

The system in the 2018 BMW X3 felt cumbersome. The car rattled on restart.
My 2018 Cadillac XT5 wa much smoother. The system on our new XT6 is smooth enough that it's not worth worrying about. I just ignore it.

Here if a vehicle is over 11 years old you can pay $87.50 and get forever plates that never need renewed. I haven't renewed plates for years. Because I don't have a bank loan and I can replace either of my Lincoln Town cars with another one from the early 2000s with around 100,000 miles for around $4-5000, I only carry liability insurance. The last one I bought I got for $2700 cash and all it needed was 1 window regulator ($50 and 1/2 a day) It had 110,000 miles on it and it came with a full sized spare plus 4 mounted snow tires. Couple moving to assisted living and bought it from their son. It is basically my spare car. My main one I got for 4K with 110,000 and it now has 160,000 and still runs excellent as the people who bought that type of car maintained them, and didn't abuse them. Heated leather seats, heated mirrors, multiple CD deck, +tape. all controls on steering wheel for stereo heat etc. Huge trunk and 23 mpg at 80mph in comfort. I have my eyes open for another.
