Tulsa King
Anyone here watching this show? It stars Sylvester Stallone, and is done by Taylor Sheridan of “Yellowstone” fame. The first season was only on Paramount Plus, but it’s being replayed on CBS on Sunday nights. I kinda like it, but then again, I seem to like anything done by Sheridan. I can’t believe Stallone is 78 years old.

I enjoyed it.
The "bluffing the cops" scene was classic Stallone.

Not sure if I can stomach Stallone, but Dana Delany is a plus.

Sylvester Stallone bought himself a concealed handgun permit in Los Angeles. But he doesn't think you should have the same privilege. Not one dime of mine goes to support him.

Pretty good show. I watched it for Stallone's talent playing the part. His personal life and gun views aren't part of his role in the series.

One of the best things I've seen on TV in a while. Looking forward to season two.

If I abstained from doing business with everyone who doesn't hold my views on everything, I'd starve, walk everywhere, never watch TV, live in a cave, and stay off the internet. I have to pick my battles.
I enjoyed season one. Sly keeps finding ways to hang around. Looking forward to season two of Tulsa and the final season of Yellowstone in November. I'm really looking forward to season three of Reacher but it won't be out until 2025. Curious to see what he finds himself in next.

I have long been able to separate the performer from the personality.
Case in point: I hold little respect for Roger Waters as a person but still enjoy listening to Floyd.

I've been enjoying it so far but couldn't watch Sunday's episode because the golf ran way over and wasn't able to record it. I'll keep trying to find it somewhere this week. Nice to find something that isn't re-runs this time of year.

Taylor Sheridan has cornered the market on the "dark comedy" genre.' Like Yellowstone, the "hero' is a bad guy you root for along with troublesome women/family and innocent kids. I watched it last year, time to see it again( seeing as Yellowstone is way too much drama with zero action, I might be dead before it finishes) Joe

I watched season 1 of Tulsa King on Paramount plus and will watch season 2 when it’s released also. I see that season 2 is being shot in Atlanta, Georgia. Figure that one out. I’ve always liked Stallone.

Yup, caught it first time around and loved it! Season two is in production now, I hope all the stuff going on with Paramount Global as it is getting ready to be sold to Skydance Media doesn’t impact the production of the season-Paramount Studios is shutting down on Friday, big layoffs, most productions will shift to CBS Studios-owned by Paramount.

I like the series in multitudes.
His daughter Scarlet who plays in it is most pleasing to look at too!

Some of it was filmed here in OKC and my friend Bob played an extra and you can see a glimpse of him in a couple bar scenes. His son's girlfriend got him the part because shes a nurse and was testing everyone on the set for Covid. He said he was standing a lot and waiting and once Stalone goosed him from behind and made him jump. Said Stalone is a pretty funny guy.

Just as "True Grit" was the ONLY real acting that non-actor and draft-dodger John Wayne ever did, so "Tulsa King" is Stallone's chance to prove that, despite the evidence of the past 35 years, he can act...

Not to start a battle but the only one on my never-never, ever list is Hanoi Jane.

There have always been formula movies with actors playing formula parts. I like some of them, some of them are just payback appearances for their friends, some are pure garbage.
Over time, the box office seems to vote with dollars for the "actors/stars" that people like and continue to watch.
Not sure if that is the mark of a good actor, star or just a pretty face.
As for Stallone; Someone, somewhere is making money on him and they keep paying him to be in their pictures.

Finally found the episode I missed a few nights ago. It was the one where he returned to NY for his brother's funeral and found out one of his posse that was supposed to be taking care of his family molested his daughter. The brutality of his attack on that guy reminded me of the one Tony Saprano did on one of those episodes. He had promised his daughter he wouldn't kill the perp but I bet the perp wished he had. Edit: After watching last night's episode Dwight told his daughter he had killed the perp.

One more thing to add; I use my streaming to catch up on movies most of the time but Tulsa King joins Justified, The Old Man (here comes season 2!!), Reacher (also season 3 coming down the road woohoo), The Terminal List, Bodyguard (Netflix series not Costner movie) and Jack Ryan as series that made me glad to have the services that run them.

I enjoyed the first two episodes when it was a clever fish out of water story. Then the show devolved into simplistic crime drama and the plot was set on easy mode. Things just keep working out for the protagonist and everyonejust loves the guy.

I guess I am the outlier. I watched the first episode and thought it was dumb. It felt like Stallone and the producers were trying to capture some of the feeling of "The Sopranos" but failed totally. Something about it just seemed so fake that I couldn't keep myself interested and never bothered with another episode.
But while I'm here on this thread I'll recommend a good cop series. Its called "BLue Lights", on Prime Video and takes place within the police force of Northern Ireland.

Watched season 1's finale last night. Will definitely watch season 2 when it comes on network tv. Something a little different from cops, rescue, and medical shows that are everywhere.
