Seeing this Comet, "Comet C/2023 A3" here in the Tucson, Arizona, sky. It's located on the compass in the WSW sky.

First appeared on Oct 12, 2024 and should be visible for about a month.

Using my iPhone 14, I took this picture in our neighborhood tonight, Oct 14, 2024.

Comets are suppose to be harbingers of DOOM!

God bless,

Spotted the same last night after a minute or two of searching with binoculars, barely south of due west about 45 min. after sundown halfway between Venus and Arcturus. Barely visible even enhanced and the tail was a wedge shaped smudge. It will fade but be higher in the sky for the next week or two.
Beautiful photo.

How low in the sky? My understanding is it should be visible at dusk in the WSW. Last night the sky was clear, but there are trees around me. I'm wondering if the trees blocked the view.

My son in law got some great pictures with his camera, after he turned off the flash
and the night view came on,
while we were up at Tuscarrora Nevada, for a few days.

About 25 deg. above the horizon just south of west 45 min. after sundown but since you are way north of me I'm sure there is change.
Plenty of online star maps where you enter your zip code for viewing the sky are available.

Last night, Oct 15, 2024, I and a neighbor stepped out into the desert and I got this desert shot of the Comet. I was looking to the West and had a Full Moon to my back.

To the naked eye, the Comet is a faint streak of light. I doubt I would have noticed it if I had not been looking for it. Viewing through my iPhone 14 camera, I could see the Comet clearly. I understand that using binoculars also make the Comet more clearly visible.

Apparently there is too much light pollution here. I checked online where it should be, got out the binoculars, found a very faint dot which I think was the comet. The tail was too dim to see.

After all the hype of "the brightest comet in decades", I am underwhelmed. Hale-Bopp was the most spectacular comet I've seen.

Some really great pictures here. I'm reminded of Hale-Bopp in the 90's. We were flying from Dallas to El Paso at night and it looked like it was flying along side of us. Unfortunately I did not get a picture of it. That was before the wide spread availability of cell phone cameras.

Been trying to catch a glimpse, but it's been cloudy skies to the west for me all this past week!
