I Just saw the strangest thing?

Some Urban Folks walking a huge pitbul with a leash around his neck and a rope around his left rear ankle? I've never heard of this training.You guys should have seen it,walking like a three leg dog.And these people looking like idiots all proud of themselves.

In our "Active Senior Community" (don't get me started), we see fools walking the dog from their golf carts. Fido, and sometimes more than one, is on one of those adjustable length leashes and the owner drives along the curb. Not sure how many pooches have been run over this way but have seen some close calls. This keeps the pedestrians on the sidewalk on their toes as well.

wife went to looking,found the three worst traing tools....1 Those Blinking retractable leashes...2 The "Harness"and 3 the "clicker" But two ropes on one dog? I'm confused.

They may have been trying to muscle up the dog's shoulders and front end.

Some folks do strange things to try to improve their animal's conformation.

Now on a harness mule, there is a good reason to put an extra rope on a front leg when working him. It is called the emergency brake. Yes it is done, and yes it works. A mule can still run on 3 legs pulling a wagon, plow, cart, etc, but he can't run fast or far.

actually the record says you have more to fear from a cocker spaniel than you do from an American Pitbull Terrier. they are far more agressive and much more brutal torwards humans. I have a Pit/Rott mix and she is the best dog i have ever owned, never bit never acted halfway agressive against anything but a cat and when she pinned it in a corner didn't know what to do with it. I bet if you do a little research you would be surprised about pitbulls

as the owner of two Cocker Spaniels, I agree they can be less than friendly at times, one of ours can be "snappy". His specialty is the sneak attack on the unsuspecting persons footwear (while they're wearing it and especially if they are looking the other way),
BUT , they don't have the capability of inflicting the severe injuries I have seen Pits inflict on people and other dogs when they have been used as weapons.

I agree pitbulls were raised for hunting boar, that is why they have the over developed mandible bone and muscles but like you said they are only that way when they are trained as weapons instead of friends. I have owned a few and when trained PROPERLY are the best dogs a person can own, trained poorly they can be a nightmare. they are just like guns, in the right hands they are wonderful things to have and enjoy, in the wrong hands they can be more than deadly.... oh btw I hope I am not coming of as snotty or rude or anything, I am actually enjoying this conversation, just let me know if I get out of line

I've read about the terrible things pit bulls can do, but the ones I've met seem to be pretty nice dogs.

I'm not trying to start the same old debate on 'pits. Just trying to paint a picture.I'm not even sure if it was a 'pit. Maybe American bulldog,it really doesn't matter.

one of my clients has the worlds sweetest Pit, I take him for rides with me, I play hard with him and all he wants to do is lick me one of my favorite dogs

its the poeple more than the dog, but the breed does/can have some issues I think

No offense taken or intended, I agree with you the Pit has been the victim of the same type of "reporting" and "urban legend" that has defamed many of our cherished pastimes and possesions.

The sad truth is any dog can be dangerous in some circumstances, for example when some idiot leaves an unattended baby sleeping on the floor, etc.

DeathGrip - sorry for the hijack - I have seen some bizarre training methods w/ Pits back where I used to live, and I never saw that one.
