Iceman has died!
I just read that Val Kilmer has died at a young 65. I knew he had been ill, but very surprised at his passing. I always liked his acting, and though he was known mainly as Iceman from Top Gun, he had a lot of good roles. R.I.P. Mr. Kilmer…fair wind and following seas. Godspeed sir!

I had hope this was an April Fool. But no. Sad, a good actor. Loved him as Doc. RIP.

Sad loss. He had quite a broad body of work. He was great in the spy comedy Top Secret.

RIP Val. He’s been in poor health for a while.
His performance as Doc in Tombstone raises that Movie from good to Great!

RIP to a fine actor, and from what I know a very decent human being.
Val's mother had a winter home in a patrol area I supervised , and we would get 3-4 alarm calls there a year, usually when it was windy and the home was unoccupied. On one occasion, one of my Deputies responded, expecting to find an empty house, and Val answered the door. He was very personable and polite, but we chastised the Deputy for not getting an autograph!
I think we'll have to pick one of his movies to watch tonight... there are many good ones to choose from.

His performance in the Top Gun sequel showed how truly ill he was. I understand that it was only the insistence of Tom Cruise that a role was created for him in this film. For me, his best role was in "Heat". RIP.

Doc Holliday or Jim Morrison, he "became" his roles. One story from the Tombstone set told how he walked around in his spare time flipping that shot mug back & forth to practice his bar scene with Johnny Ringo. Great actor gone...for now.

He had a reputation for being extremely difficult to work with. He generally blamed it on others not being as good as he was . . .

Over the years I have watched lot of movies with Doc Holliday portrayed in them. None came close to doing it so well as Val. Just not many actors that did every thing so well. He will be missed.

His entire body of work is impressive. He sold me on every character he portrayed.
While sad at his passing I take comfort in that his suffering is over as throat cancer, in its final stage, is excruciatingly painful.

Everybody needs a friend like Doc.
Turkey Creek Jack Johnson: "Doc, you oughta be in bed, what the hell you doin' this for anyway?"
Doc Holliday: "Wyatt Earp is my friend."
Turkey Creek Jack Johnson: "Hell, I got lots of friends."
Doc Holliday: "..I don't."

I don't especially like Tom Cruise, but his insistence that Kilmer appear in the Top Gun sequel gave him points in my book. RIP Iceman.

Aw man....
Sorry to hear that but yes. he's been very ill, he was barely able to make those scenes in the 'Maverick' movie, it wasn't 'acting'. And his voice was dubbed with AI samples of his own voice.
I remember first seeing him in 'Top Secret'.

I guess that now he really is a wingman.
