"To make a left turn, go this way" No wonder they lost the war.

This reminds me of the arrangement of movable barriers they sometimes use at the Can-USA border crossing when I go to visit my gf in Bellngham. Usually it's straight out on to the street, but from time to time they pull a bunch of them into a pattern that not even a Hollywood motorcycle stunt driver could negotiate. I figure they must be "looking for someone special"on those days.

Dare we ask what you were expecting? (If you plead the 5th, we'll just have to use our imagination.)

You were either raised with British radio comedy, or you weren't.

The British have a voracious appetite for novelty tunes, and many went to number one in the UK charts. Such happenings would make the average American A&R man and playlist maker tear their hair.

The first few bars gave me hope of an amusing parody. Perhaps something we might expect from Benny Hill or the Monty Python bunch.

We had our share of novelty hits: Purple People Eater, The Streak, Ahab the Arab, the Bingo parody of Ringo and so on. Some years back someone was selling a collection, should have picked it up. Ray Stevens did a lot of them. Mississippi Squirrel Revival was a really good one. Just discovered he did one called The Quarantine that may have been suppressed.

Fiurther to this (apparently taken in Frankfurt-am-Main in 2004)
Humor 4/26/25-495676380_de9e18898c-jpg

I found this notice of "change in traffic directions:"

Humor 4/26/25-traffic-direction-change-jpg

in comparison, Yogi Berra's "When you find a fork in the road, take it" seems much less confusing. And probably safer.

They can do that in Mexico and Cairo without the aid of a sign.

Unhappy

Chuck’s number 4 is another one of those Larson classics that is always funny to me, even if seen before. Several of them could be a solid HM today.
