Default "Haz-mat classification" for shipping and common sense.

Here is something that I don't understand...

Powder, in it's original container is classified as a "haz-mat" under shipping regulations. Primers, unloaded and in a paper container or sleeve are classifed the same also...

Primed cases are not "haz-mat" and may be shipped under "ORM-D consumer commodity," and of course, loaded ammunition too.

Now, if I am correct, this also goes for loaded cartridges of black powder also. Loaded black powder in either paper or brass cartridges is classifed at "ORM-D." Ok...

Eh...crazy. Where is the common sense in this?
Rant off.

Don't you understand, these rules came from "our" Congress. They lose all common sense, after they are elected.

Stay Safe,

Be quiet before they require ammo and the other stuff you mentioned to be sent haz-mat, too...
