My favorite type of gun!!!
The free kind!!!
I was talking to some folks about my most recent gun purchase, a 625-6 MG, at work the other day and my boss says "hey, are you a gun collector?" I said, "more of an accumulator." He asked if I wanted an old bolt action gun he's had for years and doesn't know anything about it except it doesn't have a fireing pin. I said "sure!!" Well, today I went over an picked up it. It's a Turkish Mauser in 8mm. When I got home I put the cleaning rod in the barrel and pulled the trigger. The rod popped right from the strike of the firing pin I suspected it did have in there. It's not real pretty with a least a little bit of rust in the barrel and some on the surface of the gun. I'm going to run some Windex soaked patches down the bore to stop the corrosive primer **** from doing any more damage, if that's possible. Then I'll take it all apart when I have a chance and give it a good going over to get it all cleaned up.

Got one just like it. Mine's kinda rough too, but it's a great old rifle.

Good goin'! I have my Dad's Chek BRNO 8MM he got from Big 5. But it ain't 8MM. It's around 9MM with mag. "sporterized" so the bolt closes when empty. But it still looks military. Have fun with yours. Don't know what to do with mine but look at it. I have a real 8MM for shootin' if I get around to it.

I broke it all down last night and did a bit of cleaning. The barrel isn't terrible but it's not any where near mint either. I had a Mosin Nagant last year that had a barrel that looked the same and it shot cloverleaves at 50 yards. I never took it beyond that. I'm not sure what I'll do with this in the long run, probably clean it, lube it and store it for a long time.

I had a Turk a few years ago, when they were available for $60. I was amazed how accurate they were. Still have a Yugo, which I haven't ever shot, along with about 400 rounds of ammo.

As Foghorn Leghorn would say:
"See the total eclipse free?"
"That's the way I like it....totally free."
