Talking So I went to buy some milk and !!!!

About 2PM today all my yard was done, still no skunks, but the wife said we needed milk, so off I went to the grocery store. Well I decided to go by Shooter's and see Jim, and I was walking by the counter when I saw a Colt Trooper MKIII 4 inch blue in really nice shape at a really decent price. I looked at it Jim bought me a soda and I put it on layaway until payday.

I then picked up the milk, some Schlitz beer and a cinnamon apple pie.

Now I am trying to imgagine some nice stags for my new revolver, its a never ending adiction. I am still waiting for th ewoman to put the nickel 49 on consignment.

I was waiting for the other shoe to drop...the part where you walked in the door with the milk and told your wife about the MKIII.

Good strategy, though. It probably be awhile before she sends you to the store again.

I know where there's a nickled Trooper.
I haven't handled it but looking, through the case, it looks in fine shape.
I can be an enabler and give you the particulars if you like...

Over the years I've had two Mark IIIs. Both had serious issues with timing and trigger mechanisms. I sold them off and got a King Cobra instead. I've heard it said that the KC is what the Python should have been. Pythons sure are pretty (I've owned a few), but they never held up like the KC does. Maybe my Troopers were lemons - I hope you have better luck with yours.

I've never had a J/V/AA frame gun go out of time, but the I/E/D frame guns will go out quickly if fired rapidly, or just eventually, if fired normally.

My 6" Mark III turned into a 2.5" M-19 after I replaced the trigger. The trigger broke were it pivoted around the trigger pin. My understanding was the trigger was made from sintering metal. I was the 3rd owner of this gun and I knew both of the previous owners. Maybe I had a made on Moday after a long weekend gun but it turned me off to Mark III's

You could try Home aka the Executioner's stag grips. He's a member here and does really nice work at very reasonable prices.

I've had my Mk. III for years. I don't shoot it every day, or even every month, but I have never had a problem with it. Where I grew up there were people that may not have had a lot of money, but they sure had at least one gun. Everyone took care of their guns and treated them with respect, and that is what I was taught. Maybe that's the secret to having guns that last a long time with no problems.

Cool

Can't comment on a 'lot' of Pythons or one with 'lots' of use....I do have a nickle 4" version going on nearly 30 years that continues to work perfectly...
