Default Those guns you always wanted

There are the guns you had, the ones you have, but what gun is there that you have been trying to get but has eluded you for some reason or another.
For me, it's a Triple Lock (or 2nd or 3rd HE) in .44 Special. Especially those with the 6 1/2 inch barrel.

For me, it would have to be .500.

I keep thinking I want to get a Smith & Wesson 500 6.5", but every time I come close.. I talk myself out of it. I keep thinking it's just not practical for me.... but I continue to want one...........

It's not practical to be married but I am............. and I continue to be

I finally bought a S&W 500, an early one NIB with the 8" barrel and it is a hoot to shoot. Course, after spending $50 for one box of 20 rounds, I soon decided that I had to start loading for it. Now have a Lee 500 mold casting 440 grain lead bullets, a Lee .500 sizer and luber, a couple hundred empty brass cases, and a couple hundred 350 FMJ's. It's a whole different ball game when you can control your loads and afford to shoot it. So, now I want........................

A 500 S&W 4" with the interchanging compensators AND an H&R Handi Rifle in 500 S&W........

But stupid things like food on the table, house payments, gasoline, insurance and such tend to take priority........... LOL

I've managed to acquire at least one of almost every gun I've ever wanted (not that I still have them all), but a couple have eluded me so far. One is an older vintage S&W K-22. I found one of 1949-vintage at a dealer one time and set about rounding up the cash. When I returned to the shop, it was gone. Another is a good side-by-side 20 gauge. Just never have quite managed to lay hands on one.

A bren-ten.
Armalite AR10.
S&W 610.
S&W 1026.

...and ten isn't even my favorite number!

A minty Colt Python.
S&W 952
FN-FAL
S&W Shorty-40

I could go on forever, but these are at the top.

Regards,
Arkdweller

Dave, Guns is one area of my life that was more fullfilled than most other areas. My dad was a gun person and hunter and worked with me early. I always had a deep intrest in guns, and was single for many years so was able to indulge myself. I also had a mentor that was a big time collector that taught me a ton of stuff. I was lucky in that area that for the most part I scratched all my basic itchs. I havent bought much in the last years, but I do have a nice collection mostly gathered from the 60s through the mid 80s. I have guilt feelings that so many are safe queens and I should be working them out. And now at 68 years old with a young wife to take care of I have been thinking of starting to sell a few, but its hard to give them up! You said you like 6 1/2" triplelocks and 1950 targets.. Here are one of each. The triplelock was sent back to S&W in 1949 and the sights added. I doubt if much more than a couple boxs have been through the 1950 target. I misplaced the original factory service stocks on that one.

both are fine looking guns, and heck why not try em out, it's no fun to look at a great gun you got to feel the trigger and listen to her go bang that's the magic of a good gun

I've always wanted an M-1 Garand in .308, but most I see are dogged out and have prices waayyyy out of my budget.

In handguns I'm still looking for a resonably priced shooter grade M-58. In shotguns a top grade snooty snoot 20 Gauge double would be nice. And as for rifle's for some odd reason a 416 Rigby. I gave up hunting awile back so have no need for a sporting shotgun and really have no need for a big bore safari type rifle. Oh well, ya want what ya want I guess!

I have no real use for 2 of these but...
S&W 500 (I already own a 460)
Barrett 50 cal. (not that I have the money to buy it, feed it or a place to shoot it)
Wilson 1911

I did get my Thompson last year even if it is only semi auto.

There's a long list that will probably be satisfied to some extent, but the more iffy ones are:

FN P90: not the 16" civilian version, the short barrel in semi-auto (at least)
DE .44: Keep the .50, I've always been a fan of the .44mag
.50 Beowulf AR: an AR platform chambered for the .50 Beowulf cartridge, now that's SHTF HD!

Price is probably going to keep these on my list for quite a while.

I've managed to acquire most of my want list, but there are a few that still elude me.
5" .44 Triple Lock
5" 3rd Model .44 HE
.38-44 Heavy Duty
Seems like every time one of these pops up I don't have the money. On the rare occasion that I have the money, I can't find one.

And oddly enough, a 4" Pencil Barrel M&P is on the list. I know they're out there and easy enough to find. Just seems like I always have other priorities when its time to buy.

I did manage to scratch one off the list the other day. Things just happened to fall together just right. A bunch of OT in my pocket and one showed up on Gunbroker. Should be here in a week or so. I'll post about it then.

I have an exstensive wish list but the one grail on that list would be a H&H Royal Ejector.

Crazy K38, I did try them out. The triplelock is the mosy accurate handgun I ever owned. Except for commemeratives all my guns get shot, just not much. I cant explain why, but if any it would be a good K-22. I once shot somone else`s and couldnt miss that day, wanted one and still havent bought one.

Any of Doc44's one of a kind 29s - just kidding Doc, but I can't help lusting after those beautiful guns. On a serious note, I have always thought the Ruger #1 rifles are beautiful but the right deal on one has never come up.

I'd like a factory engraved 99 Savage, a big double rifle, and a Registered Magnum. Luckily, common sense has stood in the way of me aquiring anything with such an astronomical price.......So far.........

Non S&W- English side lock double, H&H, Rigby, Jeffery, Gibbs, Westley Richards, any of them, in .450-.577 (prefer BP). Winchester Model 42 Field, and a Lewis Gun.
S&W- Model 35 or pre 35, 1905 .38spl target, pre 27.
As you can see my taste in revolvers runs waaay cheaper than the others.

Two guns I have always wanted. They are as different as night and day.

1. A flintlock Pennsylvania rifle, because it was the start of the great tradition of American rifles.

2. A Russian Bizon submachinegun, because it is different.

An Ithaca Model 37 riot gun, blued or parked, with the extended magazine.

These have been going for crazy money lately.

For an old country boy I have aquired most of the guns I have desired. Some of them I let go because I found they weren't my cup of tea afterall. I sold an excellent model 58 a couple years ago. Big old chunk of metal that wouldn't hit anywhere close to where it was looking. I'm more of a shooter than collector. I might get flamed for that remark, but that revolver just didn't speak to me.

I'd still like to have a round-butt model 19 w/four inch bbl, tgt H and T and some of the red and white sights. A reg. magnum would be one I could be happy just looking at. I have always wanted a nicely engraved revolver, a S&W of coarse. I've got a good candidate in the form of a ANIB 27-2, 3 1/2" that I've thought about sending to D'Angelo.

Some others I've wanted that aren't S&W are a Winchester model 63 semi-auto .22. I got the model 52B Target rifle that was at the top of my list for so long. Now if I could just add that pre-64 model 70 in 257 Bob or 250-3000. Those two will probably forever be beyond my reach. Next up would be a C grade AH Fox in 20 guage. Probably out of reach also. I think my wife probably thinks I have enough guns and knives and would prefer yall didn't get me thinking about the ones I still want!

1928 Thompson SMG
6.5" Blued, fixed sight, Triple Lock in 44 spec.
Browning BAR (the 1918 model, not the new one!)
British made big bore double rifle...500 3" ideally, as we have some pretty aggressive squirrels around my neighborhood and I want to be able to handle a charge by a rogue bull squirrel!

Browning .22 Auto in .22 Short (had one and needed the dough (sigh)).

92 D Beretta Type M (can't afford one).

Beretta 98 F (same as 92SBC Compact Type M in .30 Luger). I have never seen one. Would be easy, I guess, to get .30 Luger barrel for my 92 SBC Type M.

.22 conversion kit for the Beretta Type M.

High Standard Olympic.

Factory nickel Model 17 Smith & Wesson.

Whatever Photohause has posted lately.

+1.

A short list would be... let's see...

A Safety Hammerless with the 1 1/2" barrel.
A Model 58 with LE markings.
A Centennial with LE markings. (Was there ever any?)
A blued Model 3 with a lanyard ring.

I've been drooling over a true Mil-Spec H&K Mk23 with suppressor for a long time

This will sound a little weird coming from a die-hard S&W guy, but since I first saw a picture of one as a kid in the fifties, I've always wanted a High Standard Natchez--never have run across one.

My wish list is kind of short for now.
A nice condition model 36 and a bolt action walnut stocked rifle in .260 Remington.

I only want two. A 1911 and a 22 with a 6 inch barrel. Both Smiths.

The next time I go to Italy, I plan to look for a Beretta 98 in .30 Luger. I think the cartridge is near worthless, but the pistol is obscure enough that I want one. Not too many people in the US know about that gun.

Putting a .30 Luger barrel in a 92 just won't be the same.
