Plea to Forums Members to Join the S&WHF

This is an open plea to all forum members:

Please join the Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation.

This Foundation has taken on a project of digitally reproducing and indexing approximately 700,000 documents which are the original factory records of Smith & Wesson. This project will result in an information database accessible by various index keys such as serial numbers, names, dates, etc.

Funding for this project is provided by tax deductible donations and memberships as well as fees from letter requests.

The above information is a summary of a document I received today with my membership letter and card.

By the way, I'm member number 240. Assuming a strictly numerical approach to assigning member numbers, there are 240 members. That's not near enough to fund the above project.

If you have ever lettered a gun or plan to in the future, please consider joining this Foundation to support the above undertaking.

If just a small percentage of active forum members joined, we could double this membership in a short time.

Now is the time for all good men and women to join in supporting this Foundation and their efforts.

I've thought about this while at work this afternoon. When I sent in my money, I added an extra $25 for Ray's memorial. My letter from them documented this fact.

For the first person to post a copy of an acceptance letter that states they contributed an extra $25 dollars for Ray's memorial, I'll give them a new Case Slimline Trapper pocket knife, about a $35 value. Just post a copy of the letter in this thread and PM me and I'll take care of it.

Just a disclaimer: The only way I'm involved with The Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation is that I joined and support it's efforts.
