Here are my 686 Retro Combat, moradillo in factory tung oil. I guess I could have
ordered them unfinished and done it myself. Easy to touch up and no chipping as
with the poly coat:
I'm replacing the red insert ramp front sight on my 686 with a gold bead from S&W. I don't have a roll pin punch small enough to remove the pin. Any suggestions? Thanks.
They are slightly smaller than the the rubber Houges. The Houges cover the backstrap and the Ahrends don't. I found the groves to big on the houges and perfect for my thinner fingers on the Ahrends. The tung oil on mine is a very attractive matte finish. Won't chip like the polyurethane ones...
I'm older as well and have fiber optic fronts on my Sig 226, CZ Kadet, CZ Shadow and Ruger Mk 3 22/45. I ordered a Wilson 1911 in May with a gold bead but won't have it for a while. How do you find the gold dot? Thanks
I'm not a good photographer. The gun looks better in person. You can't see all the micro scraches the flash brings out. Mines a 686-6. The 5" was a special run for Canada. I talked to the Ahrends before ordering and this is from their website:
Retro Combat Square Butt
These grips were produced...
Can't help exactly but here are the Ahrends Retro Combat in Moradillo, round butt to square butt on a 686. I like them
much better than the stock rubber houges (my fingers didn't fit the grooves). These are a perfect fit for me:
I'm ordering a pinned gold bead front sight for my 5" 686 Plus, 7 shot, non fluted cylinder from S@W. (Canadian model). Anyone know offhand which height I need. It will replace the common stock red insert front. I'm away for a while and can't measure it. Thanks.
Hi. I have a 686 5" 7 shot unfluted cylinder. I'm curious as to the 'stock' spring rates. This one has a Wolff reduced power mainspring (range use only) and a 15# rebound spring installed (13# + 14# with it). I've searched and found conflicting information. Appreciate any help. Thanks
