I have sent the gun back to Smith & Wesson to have the front sight repaired as the red insert was cracked and one half missing as soon as it comes back I will post pictures of it and its 6" companion.

Thank you for the replay I think you are right as the smooth presentation grips seam to fit the description better and I have a pair in rosewood that are period correct.

I just got a letter confirming my Model 48-2 with a 4" barrel was special ordered with a Red ramp front and Fancy Target Stocks in 1966, but it did not come to me with the Target Stocks instead it has Magnas not numbered to the gun.
