The groove diameter can be as small as .3548 inches, on a Colt. I shoot a 9mm bullet sized to .358" for my 357 mag S&W Model 28-2. 125 grs. Bullet on left.

Buy a sizing die that applies the correct taper to the case, when sized. RCBS has a carbide tapered insert. The new expanders are M type.

Accurate powders, no. 5 & no. 9 were manufactured in many different countries. Different load data. Different burn rates. Hodgdon is using the St. Marks powder manufactured data . Hodgdon has safety data sheets (SDS) containing powder info.

This turned out to be defective primes. The 357 mag load data, over the years, has changed with where the powder is manufactured. Example- S&W M28-2, 357 Magnum, High Pressure, Locked Action, | The High Road
