    Ammo Surprise

Great detail, thanks. I will have to try those Noslers. What was your powder charge, OAL and primer?

    Pitting on bolt face

Winchester primers? I no longer use Winchester as all my bolts have been damaged by their soft primer cups. http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p10-rifles/399438-badly-pitted-bolt-face-poor-grouping.html Since going to CCI all damage has ceased (same loads). I have done this across...

First Focal Plane vs. Second Focal Plane Scopes

FFP all the way. I'm lucky enough to have Schmidt Benders on all my rifles (including my Magnum Research 22). Once you have exceptional glass it's hard to go back. I use the MP10 for operator matches and seeing the misses in mRad at any zoom is important for corrections. I particularly like...

Stop complaining about this rifle...1000 yard success

Update, came second last weekend in our local service rifle match shooting fro 200m to 400m, using the MP10 in open class (Otpics, match trigger and free float allowed). The rifle went well, and the groupings were great (under time and competition pressure). Importantly it held its own against...

    Post your best groupings

Sorry- typo - should have been 2.800" from my records. I can't measure any as I shoot them all today :) 800m @ 13"x13" - good hits (7m/s crosswind gusting to 9) - so not best conditions. I could upload the other many rubbish groups - IMO the MP10 is very sensitive to ammunition.

MP10, Timney trigger, Free float, muzzle brake & polished feed ramps 42gn AR2208, OAL 2.800", Amax 168, CCI large rifle primer. 100m with Bench rest. S&B 4-16 PM2 scope.

Post Your Beast in all of its GLORY!!

HaHa, all my scopes are S&B. addicted to their quality. The main purpose for the MP10 is for "sniper" competitions here in NZ, 2 persons, 1 precision (.338) and 1 operator (.308) Index Hence why I was determined to get 1" of less groups. Always nice to blood them, and Fallow is delicious :)

Post Your Beast in all of its GLORY!!

Blooded my MP10 on 15 pointer fallow stag. My 14 yo boy also got a spiker with my Sako 85S, so lots of venison now in the freezer.

Does the M&P10 kick more than other .308 ARs?

Recoil & felt recoil are both more noticeable IMO on the stock MP10, likely due to the hard stock and light weight. I've reduced my recoi by installing collapsible stock with rubberized end, plus muzzle brake. Recoil now pleasant and can shoot all day long.

Great info Jotun30 on part interchange. Glad to hear your rigs is setup. That free float is wicked.

Hi Coppermech Great to hear your got those tight groups. My testing was similar, very sensitive sweet spot. I was well impressed with my results. Finally happy camper :)

    S&W M&P 10 Cycling Problems

Hand loads and loose primer pockets. Have since changed primers and brass. Are your stoppage... It is easy to check the gas flow: take off the upper, use a finger to block the throat & blow down the barrel, you will hear & feel the air coming out the gas tube. If the front gas block got loose...

    rcbs black case

I use the black AR10 series dies. check my handload thread. http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p10-rifles/411048-my-mp10-good-load-max-168-39-5-varget.html I'm consistently getting around 1" @ 100m now. I notice that mr MP10 liked a bit of crimp. Goodluck.

    S&W M&P 10 Cycling Problems

I once had a primer come loose and stuck in the gas tube receiver on the bolt. Turned my M4 into a single shot. Small drill got it out. Have you changed the stock? This could affect the buffer spring. Lastly, remember to use plenty of lube. Related, I found the stock mag hopeless. The...
