I don't think this is his problem but I have had a flake of unburned powder get blown up under the extractor star and make opening the cylinder hard... but this would not make the cylinder release be forward... I'm thinking problem with the infernal lock or a weak/broke cylinder release spring...

I've shot untold hundreds of pounds of ww's and have never added any tin. I've smoked a few moulds, and turned the heat up a bit sometimes to make them fill out but never saw any reason for adding tin. I have about 3-4 buckets of sorted, read good ww's and when these are gone I plan to start...

Yes yours is a long action, no big deal but remington makes short action and long action 700 adl's and the stocks won't interchange. Not a big deal just make sure the aftermarket stock is for the long action version and its a simple bolt up swap. Remington 700's are my favorite bolt rifles...
