They can crack. My mod. 19 cracked the forcing cone after 25 years of mag ammo. Fortunately, I had a 2" barrel to put on it. Now it only shoots mags once in a while. David Mc.

New to me 28 I just purchased a Mod. 28-2 yesturday. SN N877**, a 5 digit sn. The pistol is a 4", target hammer, target trigger,red insert front sight, white outline rear site, and target grips. I got it for a good price in my area. Just thought I would make my first post special. David
