Help with the sight on this Triple Lock

I picked up this Triple Lock thru an estate the other day---it's in remarkably good shape I thought and fairly pristine except for the rear sight---I'm showing my ignorance here, but it looks like someone welded a flat blade to it. Was this a common practice?? Anyone know anything about...

Just couldn't stand it no longer...(My Ol' 3rd Model HE)

I don't get to this website often so just now read your post and saw the pics of your great 44 spl. Thought you might like to see a 44 that I picked up last weekend from an estate that my friend was executor for---the engraving's not particularly well done, but I've seen worse I suppose...

    Favorite Four Inch S&Ws

David, please tell me about the grips on your Model 57. They look like customs made by Tedd Adamovich at Blu Mangum. What kind of wood is it??? Thanks.

    Bianchi Cup

BTW, here's a photo of the first relay to shoot on the first day of the first Bianchi Cup in 1979. The range was a muddy mess and you can see that the barricades weren't painted yet. The barricade was the first event to start as they were wheelbarrowing mulch onto the other ranges to soak up...

Model 19 and Evaluaters Ltd Quantico VA

Wow, our paths have crossed---my son's Eagle scout project was at the Hillsdale Hdq. and my daughter played basketball for Pitt State. Where were you assigned after Quantico??? I was with 2nd Btn, 5th Marines at Pendleton.

Model 19 and Evaluaters Ltd Quantico VA

I was at Quantico for OCS and TBS from 5/74 to 2/75. During TBS, I got to visit Mrs. Van Orden at her home. Her husband had been an Ordinance Officer in the Corps (then deceased) and her son was either a Major or Lt. Col at the time and shooting on the Marine Corps rifle team IIRC. She knew...

    Quick Elmer Keith question

For some unknown reason Cabela's has purged their gun library personnel in the past year. Some have gone to work for Julia's Auction, others have gone on their own. The level of gun knowledge in most of the libraries is pathetic at this point--if you think their S&W knowledge is lacking just...

Penultimate Pre Postwar Magnum is in Mexico!

Ironically after reading this very enjoyable thread, I started reading the second volume of Deadliest Men by Kirchner (the fellow who illustrated all of Cooper's books). The first story is about Hank Adams--quite a guy. It seems that he's the one that Cooper was talking about that carried a...

10-22-2010 Was a very good day(More Pics Added)

1Aspenhill, I just noticed your avatar--caught my attention as I live in Overland Park. I got my 38/44 HD from Rich Stovall, back in his drinking days when I think that he may have had a few. Walked in the Bullet Hole and saw it there. Asked Rich what he wanted and about dislocated my shoulder...

Penultimate Pre Postwar Magnum is in Mexico!

Calmex, Thanks for a very enjoyable, but long, read---loved every minute of it. BTW, you must have superceded me as the youngest Section Coordinator---I was 25 when we started our club and 26 when Jeff gave us "Section" status and appointed me Coordinator. I was also at the early Bianchi...
