Opinions on shaved .455 2nd model HE

Did you even read the OP? I am well aware of SAAMI max and advertised pressure of the SPECIFIC LOAD referenced. The pre edit, "Shoot anything you can fit in the cylinder. If it blows up, no great loss as the gun is a shooter, and has no value as a collectible. Be sure to wear gloves, helmet...

Opinions on shaved .455 2nd model HE

Texas, they originally advertised it as 900 fps at the muzzle, but I never got near that out of the 4 5/8 on my old model Vaquero. I think they've now revised it down to 832 on the packaging. Not really concerned with prior stresses, as it sat in a drawer losing finish since the 60's, until...

This one never had a lanyard.

Yeah, that was the jackassery I expected. I'll be sure to run some of my Ruger only loads through it just for you.

    2" Model 1905 M&P just sold for over $4K

Hmmm, wonder if there is a connection to the Terrell Light Artillery of civil war fame. Terrell county is named for the Terrell family... Major, then Captain Terrell seems to have had a few papers published on the subject used for instruction at West Point.

Just out of curiosity, what are the opinions on the .45 Colt conversions? One would think SAAMI spec cast colt loads would be A-ok. If I recall correctly, the first N frames submitted to the Brits were converted .44 specials. So you have .455 at 13,000, .45 Colt at 14,000, and .44 Spcl at...

    6" .38 M&P 1905 fourth change questions

    We bought all 5 as a lot. The 6" pre-victory, the 5" pre-victory with Commonwealth proof marks, 5" 38-200 victory, Cogswell & Harrison 38 Special converted victory, and a 4" pre-M10 M&P.

Yep, this one is a puzzle, there are no commonwealth marks anywhere on it.

    6" .38 M&P 1905 fourth change questions

This one walked into the shop, it is a .38 smith, not special, all serials, including grips match. Butt: 716360 (lanyard loop) P, stocks, cylinder, and barrel flat all marked the same. So my question is: Did S&W produce commercial pieces while running the British .38/200s?

    6" 32DA questions

I learned my lesson. I will never rush to buy based on a sellers description and one picture that is washed out from the flash. The 5 round .38 is what had me thinking perfected. It looks nice next to my other topbreaks though, and I got a Marlin 94 out of the deal as well.

    6" 32DA questions

Sounds good. Still P/Oed that it didn't end up being a .38 perfected... But oh well.

    6" 32DA questions

If it is, it might get a little CAS range time... Otherwise it will be a pretty paper weight.

It is sound, but is it late enough to run some powder puff smokeless loads through?

    6" 32DA questions

Well, this thing was listed as a 5 round .38 for 250... Thinking instantly that it was a perfected I jumped all over it. So what I ended up with is a 6" 32DA, sn 229908 in nickel. I don't recall smith ever nickeling the hammers or triggers either... So gentlemen, how screwed did I get?
