Do a search for the same problem you have. check all the forums that come back mentioning sw m&p 9ez and you will eventually find it. I knew of these issue related to this gun right after I got the gun but before I found this site.

With the slide removed, if your able to remove it try resetting the hammer with your finger and manually cocking it. If it stays cocked I think you should be able to complete assembly and test for proper operation. Just an idea from looking at mine with slide removed. I did see a post on...

I own a 9ez since april. In your manual is says what to do and what not to do. You did not follow the directions in the manual. I've taken mine down everytime I fire the gun which is about 17 times now and haven't had one issue. My ford f250 doesnt come apart like my gmc 2500 does.
