    Smith&wesson 586 (year made)

AAA Prefix Ole Craw, Very nice AAA 586 4 inch. 22 Hi Power, that's SO Odd that your AAA 586 with a serial number that low was shipped a month AFTER my AAB prefix 686. I bet yours with that low of a serial number AAA gun was definitely manufactured in 1980. Like you said "First In Last...

    Smith&wesson 586 (year made)

Congratulations on your 586 NO Dash. Yes I agree with Colt SAA. Triple AAA prefix puts you at 1980-1981. I have a 686 with a AAB prefix and it was shipped in August of 1981. Yours probably shipped in late 1980 or the first half of 1981. Historical Letter will confirm the ship date. Take...

    S&W Double Action timing.

Mag 318, I go to Northern Virginia Gun Works. Gunsmith is Sandy Garret. Not much for empty chit chat however, he is OUTSTANDING with Smith and Wesson revolvers. I take all my Smith revolvers to him and have NEVER had to take them back after he performs his work on them. He has done many...

    AAA Prefix Serial 586 No-Dash

Mr. Richard, thanks for the information on your 1982 NO DASH 686. So still the Trademark is on the right side of the gun, and they switched from the two-piece box to the one-piece flip top box in 1982. Much Appreciated. Pat

    AAA Prefix Serial 586 No-Dash

1982 manufacturing items Mr. Richard, great looking 686 NO Dash. Couple of questions. 1) the S&W trademark. I do not see it on the left side by the cylinder latch so I am assuming it is on the right side of the gun like my AAB prefix 686. 2) Do you have the original box? If so, is it the...

    AAA Prefix Serial 586 No-Dash

8000 Serial Numbers After That is very odd that a AAA prefix serial number gun manufactured 8000 after another AAA serial prefix gun would ship 3 months before the lower serial number gun. Who knows what was going on then. Remains a mystery. Pat

    AAA Prefix Serial 586 No-Dash

AAA Prefix First Production I have a 686 NO Dash, 4 inch with a serial prefix of AAB, that was shipped in August of 1981. Serial number after AAB starts with 4. Question I have is I understand that the AAA prefix guns were first manufactured in 1980. Does anyone know when in 1980 that the L...
