    Frank Glenn Gunsmith

That is too bad, but well deserved. He put my pre-27 3.5" back in service. Needed re-timed after a hard life. It really does lock up like a bank vault now. A good man, true to his word.

22 Cylinder Reamer LOANER program UPDATE August 17, 2025

Thanks much for the update! My two 34’s, 18, and 17 are patiently waiting their turn. I’ll get some tap fluid on order.

    RCBS RockChucker -- the Agony

My father has a Lee progressive of some sort and I have a Dillon 550. For pistol on the Dillon, I use the powder dump. Rifle, I put a funnel on the powder die and use a Frankfort auto trickler. That allows me to weigh every charge, and it doesn’t slow me down much. Pistol is more about...

    IMR 4895 vs H 4895

This is strictly anecdotal information based on my rifles and my results. I'm loading up some basically starting charge "M2" Garand loads using M80 pulled bullets. With 47 grains of IMR4895 I got 2560fps. To get very close to that with H4895 I used 45.5 grains and got 2540fps. I switched...

    Powder Valley Destroyed

I’ve purchased from them many times over the years and they’ve always been excellent. I wish them the best and am very glad nobody was injured. Considering the amount of powder and primers they stock, I’m betting that was a heck of a fire!

    M1 Garand reloading 2.0

Currently I have a pair of Garands. The pictured Springfield is a ‘43 with a ‘53 SA barrel. The prior owner got it from an estate with damaged furniture and he put the beechwood on it. My ‘43 Winchester has a ‘57 VAR barrel and dark walnut furniture. At this point I’m leaving them alone...

Took the 1917 to the range today.

I was testing Garand loads today as well. I’ve had a couple threads on it in the reloading section.

Took the 1917 to the range today.

I took my 1917 Smith out to the range today. Haven’t shot it for a LONG time. 1918 production with British proofs. Tried it with a couple of my SWC loads. Accuracy was very good. Recoil with the 200 grain SWC’s was hardly there. 255gr SWC’s were very easy to handle. 255gr Missouri SWC...

    M1 Garand reloading 2.0

I used up all my IMR-4895 with my previous “M80” bullet loads. I only had 2 pounds so no big deal. I have 10-ish pounds of H-4895 so I wanted to work up a “duplicate” load. The IMR load I standardized on 47 grains for 2560fps. With H-4985 I tried 45 grains (per GRT) and it was spotty on...

Power Pistol in .38 +P loads...357 Magnum brass, 357 Magnum pistol?

I think your Power Pistol thoughts are sound. I’ve had good luck with HS-6 and Silhouette in that role as well. 357 is the easy part. Getting good performance from 38 without going too hot is the tricky part…..

    Best Powder For 38 spl, 357, 44 mag, 9mm, 45acp, and 45 Colt?

I’ll toss my hat in the ring on HP-38/Win231 as well. Jack of all trades, master of none. I’ve had good luck with Winchester’s 244 as well. It’s basically a cleaner 231.
