If you bought a new S&W recently and love it... tell us!

Like others a Model 69, 4" model. Fits my grip so well. Kicks, yeah, but it's nice to have a smaller package .44. I love the two tone look also. Thanks to SportsmanSupply on Gun Broker, who sell about 1 a day, No Reserve, $0.01 starting bid, I walked away with one for $605, out the door...

    686 picture thread

New 686 I picked up one this week. I have been wanting to upgrade my 686_ for a -5 for sometime and I found one. Low mileage. I'll upgraded it with Altamont grips for Christmas. Already put in a 13# rebound spring and a fiber optic front sight. ($600 private sale if you're curious.)

    Why a Revolver?

At the GSSF national match, the pros have a head to head competition and Glock provides the pistols. The same two pistols used for an hour. They drop them in a bucket of water between competitors to cool them off. At least they did the year I watched.

Model 929 from the Preformance Centre

There are bottom feeders when shooting stiffly loaded rounds will bulge the web, or bottom area of a case. Not mentioning any brands or loads, but if you collect range brass you will surely have some. The bulge is too far down for the sizing die to reach. In .40s&w there are push-through dies...

What length barrel should I get?

Like GTBL, I'm a 5" fan. Plus the Performance Center comes as a 7 shot which could be handy, depending on the rules, in bowling pin matches.

    That look of disgust . . .

I'm sorry? What? Try more like over 400 years.

I really don't know the answer to this.

    And while everyone tends to just use J, K, L, N & X, Supica reports that the factory may have used J, K, L or N for blue steel and E, F, G, H & X for stainless.

    New 686 performance center

I'm with Bob. The 7 shot is a ******* child for competition. 8 shots rule for USPSA and even steel and pins, unless you never miss. [EDIT: Oh that's a first. I used a no-no word, which I thought was a normal conversation word in the right context. So the ******* you see substituted by...

    ICORE 2017

Cool, Thomas. I retire next year, so the wife and I might make a trip of it to Fallon, NV. And to PA for 2019. You're right, top competitors and groupies make the trip to where ever. I'm becoming an IRC groupie after two years now. Haven't had the chance to shoot in any of the steel...

    ICORE 2017

Thomas, You're right on the locations. Will be interesting in 2019 to see the response being shot in the NE. It's my first "big match" where I stayed all the way through and participated in everything. Ruger was the sponsor for IRC and provided 5+ guns for the prize table. There were...

    ICORE 2017

I should have asked before, but now it's history and in the books. Anybody else go to Frostproof the past weekend? Normally S&W revolvers dominate. I think in past maybe 1 out of 150 competitors used Ruger. Ruger was the title sponsor this year and gave away 5+ revolvers. Several...

    POWER FACTOR

I've had a hard time finding .38spl that meets ICORE PF of only 120. Used Armscor USA (NOT Precision) and it barely made it. For those that ask about gaming. For Bowling Pins and Silhouette shooting the sport itself requires a certain amount of momentum to compete. No artificial rules are...

    Model 686 no dash

My 8-3/8" is a no dash, no m, and I've put plenty of high velocity 158grs down range with no problem. Those were all fired single shot & I used CCI magnum primers over H-110 to get the most out of it. Those primers are tougher than regular which may account for the lack of any problem.

Finally removed the lock & installed a Plug...

May be straying into political area but, Why did/doesn't S&W put internal locks on semi-autos? Why just pick on revolvers? My recent purchase of an M&P and a Shield didn't include such a lock. Did the political entities (Maryland?) only push for locks on revolvers and not semi's? Reason...
