Well you know who has owned the Thompson Contender company for awile now. Well you guessed it, S&W. Did they make great barrels? It was bought near the same time S&W started making all there AR's in house.
I know my M&P is as accurate as almost any AR out there and no its a not "match" barrel...
Was this model the first 357 produced without an extractor shroud and the model 13 being the second? If so would it be to cut weight with the heavy barrel?
Welcome to the forum Runngun! Messer is right. You may think you have money now but just wait, that money will just start flying out of your wallet for all the accessories youll wont. You have started on a great platform with that Smith and great factory service if needed and doubt you ever will.
Well who knows when they switched but I think your theory is probably pretty close. If everyone put there date of birth and serial number here we could tell. For instance on my lable on the outside of your box under the model # is a set of small #'s such as mine are 09090 meaning mine was made...
Matto-welcome to the forum! I dont own a piston AR but Ive never heard that about pistons being less accurate and why would the triggers be any different. I dont know your source but I think your going to be plesantly surprised on your purchase. Let us know after you get it.-ken
Hey Big Jim welcome to the forum! Yes that serial number does indicate 1977 and those pics arent that bad. Been looking for one of those for a very long time. Now go shoot the crap out of it-ken
Vzdude welcome to the forum. Look on the box and see if the serial # matches the gun? And yes there is supposed to be markings on the top of the barrel "5.56 NATO 1/9". Did you buy from an FFL or private party?
Well this is as personal as which toothbrush you like best. Depends on the size of paws you have and what feels good to you like the poster above stated. Personally I like the ones made by CAA which have the finger groves and extend forward below the pinky. I have rear and foregrip.
I dont shoot any steel cased ammo but I think Im going to start. Heck it only takes maybe 3 min to change a $10-$20 extractor plus you could keep a spare in your range bag or under your grip plug just in case. To me its not about the extractor but how dirty I here that stuff to be.
