How Do You Use Your Revolver(s)? Favorite Things?

I go in waves of enthusiasm for getting to the range (fortunate to have quite a few great options here in central TX), but always appreciate the peace of mind that owning them provides me. More than that, rifles, shotguns, pistols, revolvers, I truly love all of them. I'm also a sucker for all...

How Do You Use Your Revolver(s)? Favorite Things?

I was wondering when a guitar player would notice them in the background would come around. Do you have a favorite Brand, model, guitar? Me, impossible to choose a favorite. 20-odd years ago, I'd probably have said a Strat, but wouldn't be able to choose a particular one. Nowadays, I'm all over...

How Do You Use Your Revolver(s)? Favorite Things?

Totally agree, and part of my thinking, but like my guitar and amp collection, I regularly 'exercise' all of them. I'm a bit OCD and like everything to be clean, and in good working order.

How Do You Use Your Revolver(s)? Favorite Things?

For me, it's - classic look and feel, reliability & dependability, accuracy, proven performance, and quality I like. Nightstand: My Model 10 heavy-barrel, loaded with Crit D, .38 Special +p rounds (and a speed-loader), is my preferred choice for the nightstand. I never know what state I'm going...

    S&W 629 Deluxe 3" 44 magnum.....

I've got the same one. Not sure if it was worked on before I got it. Dealer just said it was new and only test fired. The trigger and especially the hammer are the definition of butter in a revolver for me. Simply amazing. I've taken the Mother's polish to mine as I like to admire it as much as...

My Results w/ Hoppes vs Ballistol

you missed the part about Hoppe's 9 "Oil". They have cleaning kits (I got one about 10 yrs ago) that have all the rods, brushes, patches, as well as two bottles - one being the solvent we all know and love (well not everyone), and also a bottle of Hoppe's 9 Lubricating Oil.

My Results w/ Hoppes vs Ballistol

It was more or less handed down to me as a solvent. I got used to the smell (which I like) and then just added the oil, or would receive it as a gifts. I don't think (know) there's anything bad about it, I just think there's better out there, and I believe that Ballistol meets that need for me...

My Results w/ Hoppes vs Ballistol

Hehe! I've been thinking the same thing Victor. I mean, it's not like we have to swim in it, wash with it, or otherwise slather it all over our skin! If you like the way it performs, but don't like the smell, don't worry - it fades (the scent that is) very quickly.

My Results w/ Hoppes vs Ballistol

Marvel's! I had forgotten all about it. I used it in many vehicles over the years. I used to swear by it, but never thought of it for my firearms.

My Results w/ Hoppes vs Ballistol

Gents - I'm referring to the Hoppes 9 Lubricating Oil which should be a fair comparison to Ballistol. Bottle describes it as 'Lubricating Oil' with 'High Viscosity and Penetration'. Now having said that, I START with the Hoppes #9 Solvent, but I have always finished with the oil. Now, I'm...
