Thought I might just update this thread... seems this model is now OFF the Crimson Trace website... 404 FILE NOT FOUND???? Anyone here know the scoop?

I am on the horns of a dilemma!
I am currently trying to decide between the 686+ PC and the 640 Pro....
It would be a winter carry, OWB pancake at 4 o'clock most likely... The 640 offers the option of coat pocket carry which i believe the bulk of the 686 would preclude. The 640 also benefits...
How about adding another variable?
What do you imagine the effects of a ported snubbie fired from a pocket would be? Cajun-Blacked knuckles??? :confused:
I am looking at a M 640 in .38 spl. only with a serial number of BKN4084. I thought I would asked our Best and Brightest if there was way to tell the age? Also, these are +P rated correct?

The Colt site has a manufacturing year database by serial number if you want to find the exact year...

Question: What are the "spots" on the frame near the cylinder release? They are very visible on your third photo... almost like a splash of bleach on denim? I have seen them on some photographs of the Gov, but not all.
