Is it stock to have a thin white plastic piece between the grips and metal frame?

Got in 1975 from a friend for home def from xhusband my dad and no box been in drawer ever since.

Yes serial inside grip is the same

The other side looks the same some scratches on cylinder and end of barrel some blue is gone. I go for autos and m1a so this is not my style. I will post more pics thanks for all the feedback
